Farmers Coop Oil Co. is a successful full-service Energy cooperative located in Southern MN. Facilities include 6 Convenience stores, 2 cardtrol locations, bulk energy, bulk propane, bulk oil, and bulk diesel exhaust fluid. The position is responsible for all purchasing and contracting fuels, propane, oil and DEF. Responsible for contracting, merchandising, retailing and purchasing and services of six convenience stores. Maintain all profit margins and contractual agreements with outside venders. 

The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and leadership skills with a thorough understanding of finance, operational controls and planning, as well as, supervisory skills, public relations and organizational skills to manage the total operation. The successful candidate will work extensively with a seven-person board of directors. The ideal candidate must be able to make decisions and work independently.

The candidate must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities:

Manage the operation of the entire business according to Farmers Coop Oil Co. objectives to provide patrons with prompt, courteous and effective service while maintaining the efficiency necessary to achieve a return on investment.

Continue our program of safety and equipment maintenance to avoid breakdowns and limit safety hazards. DOT (fleet) and CTEP (propane Regulation) compliance. 

Evaluate patron credit needs and extend credit in accordance with Coop’s policies.  Monitor credit liability and manage the collection of accounts receivable.

Monitor the daily long/short position for energy to effectively manage inventory risk.

Educate both employees and patrons in the operations of the business objectives to enhance employee effectiveness and improve customer relations.

Establish and implement short-term goals that are consistent with long-range plans for growth in operation, including facility, rolling stock and personnel.

Communicate with department managers to coordinate and complete all aspects of the consolidated operation.

Communicate openly and honestly with the Board of Directors of Cooperative.

Keep abreast of industry trends or changes to accurately answer patron inquiries.

Manage Cooperative’s workforce through responsible training and clear job assignment definition and explanation, including organizational chart, job descriptions, and regular employee reviews (annual).

 

Continue to build a strong sales and marketing culture.

Monitor the work of all employees to improve performance and effectively reward and develop all employees.

Oversee the information provided for month-end close, inventory valuation, bringing contracts to market, physical, inventory, freight, etc.

Properly document daily and month end accounting transactions.

 

Basic preferred Qualifications:

2 year minimum degree in Agriculture or Business

3-5 years of Management / CEO or experience Equivalent
