WHO WE NEED:
Arootah is searching for experienced Chief Financial Officers to consult to our highly prestigious client base. As a consultant, you will work with our Hedge Fund and Family Office clients to provide expert advice. Having previously served in this leadership role, you have specific, hands-on experience developing, implementing, and managing the day-to-day accounting and finance functions for a leading Hedge Fund or Family Office.

- Breaking apart goals into actionable steps.
- Advising on vendor selection and oversight.
- Creating and implementing policies, procedures, and control measures.
- Evaluating each client’s advancement toward goal actualization through key performance indicators (KPIs) and scoring matrices.
- Special projects or other areas of need.
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance, Accounting, and Billing functions for the organization across all entities through the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns and regulatory agency reports.
- Own financial reporting, planning, financial analysis, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, risk management, and internal reporting to leadership, and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage revenues and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; make or oversee any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Assume full responsibility of managing the relationships and financial covenants with banks, financial partners, and outside investors.
- Oversee, manage, and approve all expenses for the management company through careful oversight and approval of all payments to vendors, service providers, compensation, and employee benefit and retirement programs; manage internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Take the lead on the company’s capital strategy including financing arrangements, lines of credit, bank loans, seed deals, capital calls, joint ventures, and partnership activity.
- Partner with the Founder/Principal to lead the development of future financial strategies; establish annual financial goals; establish, monitor, and analyze performance against these objectives.
- Ensure the fiscal integrity of the company’s business through the enhancement and management of accounting systems, a strong control environment and checks and balances to minimize risk.
- Assist with annual audits, tax return preparation, SEC, and regulatory reporting/filings as it relates to all financial and accounting data.
- Assess resource requirements and financial impacts of new business initiatives (e.g., new products, pricing, etc.), weighing in on which initiatives should have priority and partnering with the executive team to execute.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation required; advanced degree (MBA, etc.) is a plus.
- 10+ years of prior work experience, specifically as a Chief Financial Officer for a Hedge Fund or Family Office.
- 5+ years of proven experience in a financial or accounting capacity with a Hedge Fund, Family Office, Investment Management firm or Big 4 accounting firm.
- Have extensive experience with cash and working capital management and forecasting, as well as strong technical accounting skills, GAAP accounting, and management reporting experience.
- Strong technical skills, particularly with Microsoft applications (Word and Excel), and a proven proficiency in accounting software or financial applications (QuickBooks, etc.)
- In-depth understanding of various financial instruments, investment types, vehicle structures, asset classes, tax regulations and financial covenants.
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail and able to prioritize with excellent management and supervisory skills.
The ability to work remotely.
Flexible hours and ability to choose your assignments.
The hourly consulting rate of pay is expected to be a minimum of $275 and a maximum of $400, per hour. The hourly rate will be determined by several factors which may include, but are not limited to, the length of the individual engagement, level of difficulty, level of specialization required, professional designations, skills, and years of experience
