The Role


Matrix Renewables is looking for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in our fast-growing and well-established team. The Associate will be a key supporting member of the Development team. You will support and have responsibilities spanning all stages of development from market entry analysis through notice to proceed. This role requires someone with development experience for large utility-scale solar projects with energy storage experience.


Key activities and responsibilities:


  • Assist in developing Matrix projects including interfacing with consultants, local authorities, landowners & local communities, developers, offtakers, and transmission authorities
  • Assist in tracking development status of projects in its pipeline and liaising with developers to help to deliver projects to ready-to-build on time
  • Assist in project scheduling management through activities definition, sequencing, resources, and duration estimation
  • Assist in managing relationships with landlords and tenants and liaising with developers and various land agents
  • Assist in internal reporting to support management and investment decisions
  • Assist in permit application preparation and agency submittals and attend hearings and community meetings as needed
  • Review and summarize third party consultant reports
  • Support offtake opportunities including RFP responses, PPA negotiations, and coordinating resources
  • Support other departments including acquisitions, finance, accounting, and EPC
  • Stay current on market developments including market trends, RFP opportunities, customers, state and federal policy changes, tariffs and tax incentives, renewable energy and energy transition technologies, and assist in disseminating relevant information to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure the smooth transition of projects to the EPC team
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned


General Skills / Attributes:


  • BA or BS in a relevant field; MBA or MA in a relevant field a plus
  • 3+ years of renewable energy industry experience in commercial roles
  • Experience with storage project development in ERCOT, MISO, or WECC is highly preferred
  • Understanding of the development process for storage projects in various regions of the U.S.
  • Positive and can-do attitude

  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong ability to perform at a high level in a matrixed organization managing multiple projects and relationships simultaneously with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated leadership skills working in a collaborative and supportive manner
  • Native English level speaking
  • Ability to travel to our Miami office and throughout the U.S. to meet landowners and other stakeholders for Matrix projects
