Job Details:
This position will help drive Tyson Foods positive reputation within media, while mitigating crisis situations.. It includes creating and implementing public relations strategies as well as managing news media relations; media monitoring; news media training for executives; issues messaging; crisis planning and training; speech-writing; public speaking coordination and training; public event planning; customer communications support; and public relations assistance to the leaders of the various business units. This role is part of the larger Corporate Communications team.
This position is on-site in Springdale, Arkansas, and does not support remote or hybrid work arrangements. Successful candidates must be prepared for relocation, relocation assistance will be provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The position requires someone with strong organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to quickly gather information, develop messaging and share communications to key internal and external audiences; along with the ability to help manage response communication during crises or critical incident situations. The position requires a strategic leader who can help guide and direct other members of the external communications team and provide leadership across the function of Corporate Communications.
Requirements:
Education/Certifications: Requires BA or BS in communications, public relations, journalism or related field
Experience: 10+ years of communications, media or public relations experience in-house or at an agency.
Computer Skills: Requires basic computer skills. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong grammatical aptitude, and skilled editing ability; deep experience in working with media and developing and executing effective media strategies and building and shaping narratives; strong experience with issues management and fielding reactive media requests.
Special Skills: Ability to develop news releases, speeches, letters and other forms of written communication; organizational and collaborative skills are also important; manage numerous projects with tight deadlines
May require limited domestic travel.
