Clayton Services is searching for a Director of Accounting to join a thriving company in Northwest Houston. The Director of Accounting will lead a team of accounting professionals, oversee all accounting functions, and financial reporting, and ensure compliance with regulations while implementing internal controls to support operational growth and success.


Job Type: Direct-Hire

Pay Rate: $160,000 - $180,000/annually

Director of Accounting Responsibilities:


  • Manage and lead the corporate accounting department comprising general ledger and transactional accounting activities and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures tailored to the unique requirements of the food management and logistics business.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Coordinate with the procurement and logistics teams to provide financial insights and support effective inventory management, distribution, and procurement decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making processes.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with industry-specific standards and regulations, and providing accurate and timely financial information to senior management.
  • Monitor the company's cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities to ensure financial stability and growth.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team, contributing to the development and execution of long-term business strategies, including expansion plans and potential partnerships or acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, manage audit processes, and address any financial concerns or inquiries.
  • Evaluate and improve financial systems and tools, leveraging technological solutions to enhance financial operations and reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Present financial reports and findings to the executive team and provide recommendations for improving financial performance and mitigating risks.


Director of Accounting Skills and Abilities:


  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to the company's long-term financial planning and decision-making
  • Strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.


Director of Accounting Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or CPA certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
