Compensation for onsite WA applicants is $110,000-$125,000. All applicants are welcome to apply.

What will I be doing?
TheDirector of Business Development position will play an active role in contributing to AST by workingdirectly with our customers and being responsible for driving growth and profitability. This role willensure AST’s success by working directly with potential customers to understand their needs, assesspossible solutions that meet these needs within AST capabilities and product portfolio, and communicate the core benefits, features and business cases that solve these challenging customer applications. As an important member of the sales team, they will work with the inside sales and sales management to define winning sales and marketing strategies for critical accounts and their assigned territory. We are seeking an individual who has strong communication skills, integrity, and eagerness to succeed to join our team.

  • Identify and develop sales and marketing strategies at an account and territory level that build brand recognition, create customer loyalty, and gain market share to deliver sustainable growth and profitability for the business.
  • Manage and be accountable for achieving quarterly and annual sales targets for the business and the product lines.
  • Manage sales pipeline using sales tools such as a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and actively uses it to progress opportunities through the sales process.
  • Develop sales forecasts.
  • Provide internal teams with customer or market feedback for existing product/service enhancement opportunities.
  • Continuously networks and finds new opportunities to expand AST’s customer base, grow the sales pipeline, and convert opportunities into profitable orders.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs, assess AST’s solutions to ensure fit, develop and submit timely and professional proposals.
  • Perform proposal review conversations with customers to present the technical, commercial and schedule of the proposed solution in a clear manner that demonstrates the value it offers.
  • Participate in project meetings to ensure that projects meet customer and contractual commitments. Is an advocate for the customer and works to resolve any differences of understanding with the internal team.
  • Works to understand customer purchasing and budget cycles, and organizational purchase approval structure. Leverages this understanding to effectively manage complex sales process to a successful conclusion.
  • Stay current with industry trends, practices and market activity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Sales and Marketing.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years related work experience, including 3+ years of progressive technical salesand marketing experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in the Life Sciences industry or equivalent knowledge base with specific knowledge and experience with design, manufacture, and integration of automated machinery for the Life Science industry.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Curiosity with a desire for continuous learning and proactively seeks answers and understanding.
  • Skilled in proposal writing, contract creation and contract review.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to lead, develop, communicate, and implement a strategic plan.
  • Strong business-related financial expertise.
  • Excellent business development, networking, influencing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office and SalesForce or other CRM platform.
  • Familiarity with consultative sales processes desired.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and motivate others.
  • Ability to change direction quickly and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Irreproachable professional integrity.
  • Demonstrated history of making good business decisions.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, forthright, and thorough.
  • Expected Travel: 40+% and ability to travel internationally as required to accomplish sales objectives.
  • Position will be remote (US) based.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Must be willing to take and successfully pass a drug test.
