Director of Football Operations

The Director of Football Operations at Long Island University will be responsible for the organization of the day-to-day operations of the football program. This position assists the Head Football Coach with the planning, development, and promotion of all aspects of the football program. This position will work closely and collaborate with all football staff members and students, designated institutional personnel, and athletic administration.

This position includes coaching, recruitment, student-athlete development, program administration and fiscal management responsibilities, as well as development and implementation of a strategic plan for the program.

Position Summary: The Director of Football Operations assists with administrative responsibilities for the football program in addition to other duties as assigned within the Athletics Department. This position works closely with athletic administration to manage day-to-day operations of the Football program in addition to serving as a point of contact and liaison for all institutional matters related to the football program.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The Director of Football Operations is charged with several major duties in connection with the football program, including:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the LIU football program.
  • Anticipate and satisfy all logistical needs of the football program.
  • Manage and direct assigned football program staff, student assistants, and volunteers.
  • Serve as liaison between the football office and the athletic department; student services, athletic communications, marketing, compliance, ticket operations, business office, sports medicine, equipment, strength and conditioning, event operations and other areas as designed.
  • Coordinate team travel logistics and itineraries.
  • Coordinate arrangements for pre-season training camp.
  • Assist with the monitoring and support of student-athletes in the areas of financial aid, housing, and meal arrangements.
  • Coordinate and communicate all practice schedules with all supporting offices.
  • Coordinate all video needs of the football team.
  • Assists with prospective student-athlete recruitment activities including, but not limited to, campus visits, correspondence and other activities.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate completion of compliance related forms processes and monitoring requirements.
  • Responsible for full compliance with institutional, departmental, and NCAA regulations
  • Collaborate on development and management of budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics

Preferred qualifications for the successful candidate are a bachelor's degree and previous coaching experience. The Director of Football Operations reports to the Head Football Coach with additional oversight and guidance from a member of the Athletic Department staff. This position is responsible for the organization of the day-to-day operations of the Football program.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required; At least one (1) year of athletic operations experience or comparable experience and/or football playing experience. Must be organized and have ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks. Work a highly variable schedule including nights and weekends; Must be service and solution-oriented, placing program needs ahead of individual needs; Knowledge of NCAA rules preferred.
