Job Overview

The Director, Supply Chain, Strategic Programs will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and leading a

client and supplier facing team responsible for vendor activation, supplier contract review, execution and

setup, lifecycle vendor and supply chain management activities as well as internal and external

inquiry/issue resolution. The Director will work closely with leadership, peers, the team and the business

to ensure that the strategic operations and program responsibilities are met and ensure the client

experience is at the standards required for the program. The Director will be responsible for aligning

processes, roles and responsibilities, and supplier requirements with the program strategic plan, and

enhancing relationships with key stakeholders from the client and strategic suppliers.

Key Responsibilities - Essential Functions

  • Work with leadership to enhance and implement the strategic plan for the future of the program

and the team

  • Attend daily status calls with client as the supply chain program leader, to position the team and

take responsibility for supplier and team deliverable completion

  • Ensure all supplier reporting is received on time and is accurate for the program
  • Use agile methodology to lead the supply chain program and the team, assigning roles and

responsibilities that will shift with the agile nature if the program

  • Meet regularly with key client stakeholders to ensure that the needs of the supply chain program

are being met and to ensure Wheels has a strategic advantage as a partner

  • Ensure that the supply chain is effectively supporting the requirements of the program

  • Meet regularly with senior leaders from our suppliers to ensure that key relationships are

established for client escalations and escalation of performance issues

  • Identify and clear bottlenecks within the team and within the business related to the program, and

implement process improvement for those areas

  • Work closely with leadership, peers, direct reports and the business to ensure that all project

requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track

  • Contribute to status reports, performance/SLA documents and white papers for executive, team

leadership and client review

  • Manage multiple large initiatives and several smaller projects concurrently
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards for program output and project deliverables
  • Work with project managers/IT and the business to monitor cost, schedule, and performance of

projects and operations, while working to ensure the ultimate success of the program

  • Communicates with senior and executive leadership and functional area managers regarding

status of the program and specific projects.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor and lead a team of 10+ supply chain managers and specialists responsible for

program operations, supply chain management and client success

  • This position’s leadership responsibilities involve demonstrating ethics and integrity, developing

adaptability, displaying drive and purpose and exhibiting leadership stature internally and

externally, while leading a large team and strategic program.

  • Ability to simultaneously and effectively coordinate multiple efforts, various cross functional teams

and individuals.

  • Strong facilitation and communication/influence skills at various organizational levels in the

business and with clients.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to evoke commitment from team and stakeholder.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to lead and motivate a strategic team
  • Resolve conflicts, plan strategically, and effectively manage time for self and team

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of successful supply chain management and client facing experience, working with

senior level stakeholders

  • Excellent communication (verbal, written), problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio) tools.

Work Environment:

This position is in Alpharetta, GA or Des Plaines, IL and operates in a professional office environment up to 30% into the Alpharetta, GA office.

Positions Type/Standard Schedule: This is a Full-time position, and hours of work are Monday through

Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel: Travel: Travel up to 50% is expected with this position.

Physical Demands: Speak, hear, and see, and to use hand and fingers for computer keyboard and

phone. Sit or stand for extended periods of time. Reach above head to pull paper attachments.
