PAY RATE:  $25hr.  Based on our Santa Rosa office location.  (West Yost uses geographic salary differentials that would apply for candidates in other regions).

**This position requires an in-office presence during hours worked, with some opportunity for remote work based on communication with the manager.**

 

ENGINEERING INTERN (MUNICIPAL WATER FOCUS)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide timely assistance in execution of water, sewer, and drainage system modeling, master planning and design, and program administration.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports in support of projects.
  • Complete calculations and solve problems using engineering skills and formulas.
  • Assist in performing quantity take offs and developing opinions of probable construction, design, and review of cost.
  • Input and analyze GIS data and create maps using ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Communicate with client staff and internal engineering teams as directed by senior engineering staff.
  • Review and support development of and compliance with technical specifications and standard details.
  • Support engineering staff in conducting development and capital project plan set reviews.
  • Prepare spreadsheets and analyze data sets using Microsoft Excel.
  • Research, read, and draft technical memorandums and comment letters.
  • Regional delivery of program materials to client offices.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Required Education and/or Experience:
    • Must be pursuing bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related major.
    • Excellent writing and communication skills are essential.
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
    • Experience with CAD and/or GIS.
  • Preferred Education and/or Experience:
    • Emphasis on environmental/water resources engineering is beneficial.
    • Coursework and research experience in water and wastewater supply, distribution and treatment, water quality, program management.
    • Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software.
    • Pursuing Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.

*This position may require travel to other offices and/or client offices. Applicant must carry a valid driver's license. Applicant must also be able to meet West Yost’s rules and be eligible to drive for business. West Yost’s insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.*
