Forklift Operator Frozen Logistics (Merit)

Forklift Driver performs duties, takes and responsibilities associated with product movement within a warehouse/plant environment using RF system location devices to ensure accuracy.

Primary Accountabilities

• Operate forklift safely and timely
• Drive inside the freezer warehouses and other areas as needed for extended periods of time, Zero-degree Fahrenheit or below
• Learn and apply all necessary shipping, inventory, staging, warehousing procedures
• Learn and apply all stacking patterns for various size cases and stacking procedures for all material
• Learn and apply all safety procedures in the warehouse, dock area, and Forklift battery changing area
• Must know how to properly change Forklift battery
• Learn and apply all paperwork procedures that are necessary in the areas of warehouse and shipping
• Restack boxes that were poorly stacked or on a broken pallet, as needed
• Follow company policies and safety procedures
• Other duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions of the job
• Report to supervisor if you have extra time or need another job assignment
• Must be able to stack boxes as high as 80 inches
  
  
  

Must follow RF practices and procedures which include the following

Scanning Basic

• Always drive with the Handheld Device or RF Scanner stored
• Read the information on the screen while stopped
• Point the laser (scanner) at the sign or label
• When the beam is on the barcode, release the trigger to scan
• A “positive” beep will be heard
• Try scanning at a slight angle to the sign or label. Sometimes scanning straight, the label does not work as well
  
  
  

Safety

• Never point the laser at another person or yourself
• Never point the laser at someone’s eyes
  
  
  

Guidelines

• Do not give your login and password to another person
• Do not allow another lift operator or person to user your equipment, always logoff.
• Do not attempt to remove components from the forklift
• Completely log off system if not using the RF equipment
• Check RF equipment and forklift before starting shift. If you notice anything unusual report it immediately and do not use the equipment
  
  
  

Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring

• Must have High stacking and Rack Stacking experience
• Must have 2 years Forklift Driver experience
• Must pass Forklift, High stacking and Rack Stacking evaluation
• Must pass Company’s Forklift certification course
• Must be able to work in extreme cold temperatures
• Must be able to read/write English
• Must be able to work with other employees, departments, and supervisors
• Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed
• Must maintain high quality and production standards
• Reliable attendance is an essential function of the job
  
  
  

Education & Certification

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred
  
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to pass job specific Physical Ability Test (PAT)
• Temperatures range from -10° to 50°-degree Fahrenheit and acclimate to sudden changes in temperature
• Noise produced by manufacturing machinery up to 92 decibels
• Must be able to climb stairs up to 5ft daily
• Must be able to (push up and) down dock plates
• Must be able to do repetitive movements of bending, reaching up to 49” (shoulder height) overhead and forward up to 24”, pushing & pulling an average weight of 10 – (50) lbs.
• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time on concrete and/or metal grating
• Requires climbing, standing, squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, flexion/extension, and cervical rotation of the neck, lifting and other physical movements to perform job
