Overview:

We’re looking for an experienced Mid-Level Freelance E-Commerce Copywriter to join our team. As a contractor, you will play a pivotal role in helping shape and distribute the voice and tone of our brand across various platforms and marketing materials. With an affinity for crafting impactful messaging while leveraging SEO strategies, this role will be tasked with supporting the development and implementation of integrated campaigns that drive brand awareness, consideration and loyalty. We are known for being a trusted resource for the home and our informative approach is one of the reasons we stand out from the crowd.

In this position, you will work alongside our in-house copywriting and creative teams, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, on-brand copy that meets strategic objectives. As a creative visionary, you will work closely with the Senior Manager of Copywriting to guide the evolution of our brand voice and support campaigns that position the brand as a design authority and lifestyle leader in the industry. Your creative contribution will be instrumental in how we express ourselves across multiple channels.

Who We are:

Founded in 2014, Studio McGee, Inc. is one of the fastest growing home design brands in America. Our journey began with a thriving interiors business that focused on approachable, yet aspirational design. By leveraging the power of digital communities, we were able to expand our footprint in the interior design industry through an unconventional approach that connected us with our consumers. We continued to carry that forward-thinking attitude into the launch of our retail business, McGee & Co., which anchors the operational and revenue growth of our company. Our licensing partnerships allow us to further expand our design voice beyond our own collection. From a multi-year partnership with Target to an Emmy-nominated Netflix Series and a NY Times Best-Selling book, Studio McGee's passion is to empower people to design with an approachability that enhances their daily life and elevates their every day. Whether following us on social media or becoming part of our company, we invite you to join us on our mission to “Make Life Beautiful.”

Responsibilities:

  • Bring creative-thinking and copywriting strategy and expertise to how we address customers across all stages of the customer journey.
  • Be a strategic creative as we define and differentiate our voice within the interior design space.
  • Identify gaps in our existing messaging to suggest ways to strengthen our brand voice.
  • Work with designers and/or art directors against creative briefs to develop promotional, multi-channel campaign copy across multiple platforms — for landing pages, social media, paid media, email and SMS, branded events, video, and more.
  • Work with digital marketing and SEO agencies to strategize and execute best practices.
  • Write and edit meaningful, action-orientated copy across all channels with a special focus on digital mediums and a mobile-first mentality.
  • Tap into storytelling to develop engaging content hierarchy and brand messaging systems that distinguish our brands in the market, adapting to needs across media.
  • Rigorously proofread and edit every piece of work to deliver the highest-quality deliverables.
  • Brainstorm and strategize in a cross-functional environment to ideate ideas that support brand and business goals.
  • Lead short form and long form copywriting initiatives, including product launches, advertising campaigns, ongoing digital communications and special projects.
  • Evolve the department’s understanding between graphic elements and imagery to ensure that the words and images used in creative complement each other.
  • A bias towards brevity and density, with the understanding that quick and clear understanding is the goal for content absorption.
  • Support writing and editing content for our employer brand and internal comms.
  • Support product landing pages and product descriptions with clear, informative, engaging copy to drive sales and customer confidence.

Skill and Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of experience as a writing creative in a marketing, advertising, agency and/or corporate environment.
  • Knowledgeable in best SEO practices.
  • Experience in content messaging systems.
  • Experience with working with and implementation of brand voice guidelines.
  • Experience with multichannel editorial and commercial copy, including but not limited to, brand identity, website, product descriptions, paid ads, social, and email messaging.
  • Experience working with designers and WebOps teams on copy strategy and implementation.
