About Us: The Bedford Post Inn is a small boutique hotel, a Relais & Chateaux destination, in the heart of Bedford, NY, renowned for our exceptional service, beautiful location, and unparalleled guest experiences. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our team and uphold our high standards of service and hospitality.


Bedford Post Inn is operated by Sunday Hospitality, a hospitality group based out of NYC, NY with restaurants including Sunday In Brooklyn, Cafe Chelsea, Rule of Thirds, El Quijote, Lobby Bar, and newest endeavor, Bedford Post Inn and Tavern.


Job Summary: The General Manager (GM) will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the hotel. This includes managing staff, overseeing financial performance, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and service. The GM will work closely with ownership to develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the hotel's market position and profitability. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful hotel management, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences.


Essential Functions:

  • Leadership and Staff Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of department heads and staff members.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of hotel staff.
  • Implement and uphold company policies, procedures, and standards.


  • Guest Experience and Satisfaction:
  • Ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction by consistently delivering exceptional service above and beyond the standards of Relais & Chateaux.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints and concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance the guest experience.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with VIPs, repeat guests, and local community members.


  • Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the hotel's annual budget, including revenue and expense forecasting.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to achieve financial goals.
  • Analyze financial reports and data to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.


  • Operations Management:
  • Oversee daily operations of the hotel, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance.
  • Ensure all departments operate efficiently and effectively, meeting or exceeding quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain health, safety, and security protocols.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure the hotel is well-maintained and operational.


  • Sales and Marketing:
  • Foster and execute sales and marketing strategies to drive occupancy and revenue.
  • Participate in sales activities, including client meetings, site inspections, and industry events.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Enhance the hotel's brand presence through effective marketing and public relations efforts.


  • Strategic Planning and Development:
  • Work with ownership to develop long-term strategic plans for the hotel.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for expansion, renovation, and improvement.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.


  • Community and Stakeholder Relations:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Represent the hotel at industry events, community functions, and networking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with local tourism boards and associations to promote the hotel and destination.
  • Engage in corporate social responsibility initiatives and sustainability efforts.


  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain safety standards.
  • Address any compliance issues promptly and effectively.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive hotel management experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a luxury hotel or resort.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial statements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute plans effectively.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional guest service and creating memorable experiences.
  • Knowledge of upstate New York’s hospitality market and trends is a plus.
