What you’ll do

  • Design and development of audio systems for electric vehicles, including sound processing, speaker placement, and acoustic optimization.
  • Work collaboratively with the Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, and User Experience teams to integrate audio components seamlessly into vehicle interiors.
  • Develop and implement advanced audio algorithms and signal processing techniques to enhance sound quality and noise cancellation in the EV cabin.
  • Conduct thorough testing, evaluation, and tuning of audio systems to meet industry standards and deliver superior acoustic performance.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in automotive audio to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure successful production and integration of audio components.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in audio engineering, with a proven track record of developing high-quality audio systems for automotive or consumer electronics applications.
  • Profound knowledge of audio signal processing, acoustic principles, and psychoacoustics.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard audio analysis tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, Audacity, SoundForge).
  • Experience with designing audio systems for electric vehicles is a strong plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize audio systems effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate across departments and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with EV technology trends and a passion for sustainable transportation solutions.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $130,000-$145,000

Internal leveling code: IC9
