MISSION / SUMMARY: Roles and Responsibilities include: The position is responsible for providing daily leadership for departmental employees to improve safety and environmental compliance, quality, cost control, and production for the Kraft Pulp Mill and Caustic Areas.

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Create, implement, and monitor local KPI’s for department.
  • Use six sigma and lean processes to implement process improvement projects to optimize equipment and reduce downtime.
  • Develop enhanced methods for new capital investments, cost reduction and restoration of equipment.
  • Continuous improve or pulp mill and caustic area operation to maximize pulp production and reduce downtime and costs.
  • Liaison with other department managers to optimize mill production and alignment of maintenance management system with all improvement initiatives.
  • Sponsor employee ownership with supervisors and operators to assure continuity in reaching common production goals.
  • Coach Supervisors and help their growth in all areas of management.
  • Foster employee engagement initiatives.
  • Encourage a behavior-based crew lead safety process.
  • Review environmental compliance measures and work with departments to improve, minimized our environmental footprint.
  • Develop annual operating and maintenance budgets and review monthly actuals versus budget.
  • Preserve asset management systems for equipment performance and reliability improvement.
  • Ensure the training program for operators and supervisor is current and appropriate training goals are on target.
  • Promote ISO standards throughout department.
  • Administer and implement Labor relations (CBA) through consultation with the Human Resource and Mill Managers.
  • Provide leadership with the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in the Pulp Mill areas.

Background / Experience

  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Experience in the pulping and/or causticizing areas would be a positive.

Education / Knowledge

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering; mechanical, electrical and chemical preferred.

Pay Range: $112,005.00 - $149,340.00
