KMBC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Kansas City, is looking for someone to join the First/Alert Weather team who can also report several days a week. We are looking for a meteorologist who knows the science and can tell a relatable weather story in our weekend morning newscasts. The successful candidate will also serve as a general assignment reporter several times each week. This role reports to the News Director.
Responsibilities
Get our viewers ready for their weekends with accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts.
Provide urgent and immediate weather information before and during severe weather events.
Can simultaneously provide content on TV, for our radio partners, and on our digital platforms.
Several weekdays of general assignment reporting on a wide range of stories in Kansas City.
Requirements
Professional on-air experience handling breaking news and severe weather coverage.
In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting.
Dynamic on-air presence with a conversational presentation.
Experience with live field reporting on weather and other topics.
NWA and CBM seals are a plus.
Related military experience will be considered.
In-person attendance is required.
