Patent Agent

Seeking a passionate Patent Agent to join our reputable, global manufacturing client, as they look to expand their legal team in Boston, MA. This will be the first Patent Agent for the organization to bring the IP team in-house and an exciting opportunity to define the role and build out the department. MUST have polymer experience!

They pride themselves on products for the greater good of healthcare/improving lives and being environmentally conscious, really making a positive impact. They need someone with polymer experience, IDS, a go-to for the business for talking through their inventions and specifications and providing an opinion. This role will be working heavily with the C-Suite, it is an interesting variety of work and hoping someone can take ownership of the department and grow out the IP team.

Responsibilities include:

• Proactively work with the research and clinical teams to identify inventions and to draft invention disclosures.
• Manage the company’s patent portfolio
• Draft patent applications.
• Lead and implement patent prosecution strategy.
• Conduct prior searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses related to the Company’s product
• Conducts competitive intelligence and landscape assessments.
• Reviews and analyzes third-party patent filings and technical literature.
• Participate in IP due diligence activities for in-licensing or acquisition projects.
• Evaluate third party patents in fields related to Company’s pipeline products

Requirements:

• Ph.D in Polymers or Material Science (adhesives, multilayer laminates, aerogels, etc.) or a related field required.
• Superb technical, written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to write well as evidenced by past patent applications and USPTO responses.
• USPTO Registration Number is strongly preferred.
