Payroll Manager

Title: Payroll Manager

Reports to: Director of Corporate Accounting, TBWA Worldwide

Office: Preferably New York City / Potential Los Angeles (hybrid)

Overview

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of multi-state payroll administration for a growing group of creative agencies within TBWA Worldwide.

The Payroll Manager partners with the Omnicom shared service center to administer semi-monthly payroll processes for over 1000 employees apprised of non-exempt and exempt employees, regular, part-time and temporary employees in approximately 14 states – primarily in California.

Partners with agency HR teams, the Omnicom shared services team, finance and accounting and other stakeholders in each agency to ensure compliant, accurate and timely processing of payroll.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, maintains, and audits payroll processing protocols to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions including change sheets for all entities.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices including final paycheck compliance per state laws.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing systems and procedures.
  • Creates and distributes periodic and ad hoc reports and analysis requests including monthly turnover and DEI reporting.
  • Acts as liaison for responding and resolving any payroll-related matters from employees.
  • Assists with Tax ID Registration when registering in new states and localities.
  • Audits and reviews employee’s timesheets for accuracy and processing.
  • Stays apprised of changing payroll laws in all states of operation including changes in
  • Responsible for reporting and processing relocation expenses through payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for managing leave pay calculations and tracking against actual employee pay as determined by parent company.
  • Responsible for W-2 auditing.
  • Assists with ad-hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of experience processing multi-state payroll.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • An articulate communicator able to speak to a wide range of stakeholders and employees.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and processes.
  • Prior experience with ADP is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to the smallest detail, with the ability to repeatedly perform under time pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Salary Range

$95,000 - $125,000 DOE
