Covenant has a beautiful 400-acre campus that stretches atop Lookout Mountain, Georgia on the Georgia/Tennessee border, just outside of Chattanooga. The community is a hub of vibrant cultural, educational, business, high-tech and entertainment activity and is an affordable place to live or raise a family. The campus enjoys incredible vistas of the Smoky Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau with views that span across several states. The region is widely known as an outdoor recreational paradise for campers, boaters, cyclists, climbers, cavers and hikers, all this while being conveniently located within two hours of Atlanta, Nashville and Knoxville.

Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced development/major gifts officer who will be responsible for developing and cultivating relationships that will in turn lead to monetary support of the mission of Covenant College.

Essential Duties

  • Market and develop assigned region and/or assigned contacts toward meeting annual fund, capital, endowment and restricted goals and objectives. The agenda for contact development is set by the agenda of the donors.
  • Identify, manage, and move assigned individuals and organizations from informed prospects to donors of first time gifts, to repeat givers, to long-term faithful supporters, to capital givers, and finally to estate contributors, according to goals set in the annual Advancement plan.
  • Manage and cultivate portfolio relationships.
  • Develop and maintain a personal database and tickler file, according to procedures for GIFT.
  • Work with the Director of Development Operations, ensuring the timely completion and submission of Donor Contact Reports/ Updates, as well as request letters, proposals, scholarship requirements, and follow-up. Observe critical deadlines such as month-end goals, calendar year goals, fiscal year goals, and capital goals. Performance measured through the Matrix System.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director of Major Gifts.

  • Ability to develop and cultivate strong relationships with various constituents of the College.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Basic understanding of financial instruments, financial planning, estate design, and endowment policy.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years of work experience, preferably in recruitment, sales, church relations, fundraising, marketing, education, or an otherwise related area
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite or MS Office suite

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
  • An understanding of the mission and purpose of Covenant College.
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to Scripture, the Westminster Standards, and the doctrinal standards of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) denomination.
  • Must be able to assent to Covenant College's Staff Commitments.

Physical Work Environment And Schedule

  • When not traveling, this role is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed or arranged for and operates primarily in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other job-related technology.
  • There is a mix of standing, walking and sitting for this particular role, however approximately 50% of the in-office work day is spent in a stationary position.
  • Classified as light, occasional lifting or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) up to 10 lbs.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas and conversation by means of the spoken word; needs to be fluent and conversant using the English language.
  • Generally, this position requires approximately 50% travel with occasional work during evenings and over weekends.

Regular full-time, 12 month, FLSA Exempt
