Research Specialist

Office Location: Madison, WI OR Milwaukee, WI

We are looking for an administrative professional to join our Research Services team in our Madison or Milwaukee office. The Research Specialist performs a variety of professional librarian services including reference, research and collection management. The Research Services team assists attorneys, paralegals and staff in six offices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducts detailed and timely legal and non-legal research, using electronic and print resources.
• Cite-checks briefs and other documents.
• Monitors court dockets, legislation, legal and business news.
• Assists in the compilation of legislative histories, jury research and other projects.
• Provides research database training and assistance to attorneys, paralegals and staff.
• Prioritizes multiple tasks and projects.
• May perform routine library duties including cataloging, filing, invoice processing, and handling vendor issues.
• Willingness to travel to other Wisconsin based office locations on occasion.
• Demonstrates regular and reliable work attendance during assigned working hours.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• A minimum of 1-3 years of experience within a similar role, preferably in a law firm.
• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate with all organizational levels, build relationships and contribute to a positive working environment.
• Working knowledge of legal research databases and platforms.
• Working knowledge of library software, preferably EOS.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
