We are looking for an administrative professional to join our Research Services team in our Madison or Milwaukee office. The Research Specialist performs a variety of professional librarian services including reference, research and collection management. The Research Services team assists attorneys, paralegals and staff in six offices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts detailed and timely legal and non-legal research, using electronic and print resources.
Cite-checks briefs and other documents.
Monitors court dockets, legislation, legal and business news.
Assists in the compilation of legislative histories, jury research and other projects.
Provides research database training and assistance to attorneys, paralegals and staff.
Prioritizes multiple tasks and projects.
May perform routine library duties including cataloging, filing, invoice processing, and handling vendor issues.
Willingness to travel to other Wisconsin based office locations on occasion.
Demonstrates regular and reliable work attendance during assigned working hours.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 1-3 years of experience within a similar role, preferably in a law firm.
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate with all organizational levels, build relationships and contribute to a positive working environment.
Working knowledge of legal research databases and platforms.
Working knowledge of library software, preferably EOS.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
