Senior Buyer

Senior Purchasing Agent Position Overview:

Our leading manufacturing company is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Purchasing Agent. This role is integral to their heavy manufacturing operations, requiring a proactive individual who can drive action and challenge assumptions both within the business and in sourcing suppliers.

Senior Purchasing Agent Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field
• 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably heavy manufacturing
• In-depth understanding of electrical products and components
• Strong knowledge of purchasing theory and negotiation principles
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Senior Purchasing Agent Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret and follow procedures, standard practice instructions, blueprints, diagrams, and other written and verbal instructions
• Prioritize and address daily supply issues promptly
• Expedite backorders and long lead-time parts to ensure timely delivery
• Participate in cost-saving projects, aiming to contribute cost-saving suggestions equal to or exceeding annual salary
• Regularly review the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) report, at least once a week
• Undertake special assignments from the Director of Purchasing with appropriate guidance
• Adhere to all safety and quality standards and actively participate in Kaizen and Area Focus Teams
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance, work efficiently, and be available for overtime when necessary to support continuous manufacturing processes
• Collaborate effectively and maintain positive relationships with co-workers
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Senior Purchasing Agent Required Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
