Position Summary

EBI is seeking a full-time Senior Architectural Historian responsible for peer reviewing Section 106 and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reports. The successful candidate will have strong technical report writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to leverage prior experience conducting field survey, and developing well-supported determinations of eligibility and assessments of effect to complete QA/QC reviews on report deliverables. Prior working experience in the Section 106 regulatory process and direct experience in preparing Section 106 compliance documents is required.

This position reports directly to the Area Operations Manager and will be a fully remote, work from home position. Routine, short-term travel may be required so candidates must be comfortable working from home with the potential for travel to be considered.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct Peer Review of technical reports prior to final delivery to the Client
  • Provide a Quality of Assessment for each report and provide continuous feedback on Author performance
  • Provide project specific technical direction
  • Occasionally complete historic property research at the State Historic Preservation Offices or via their online databases
  • Occasionally conduct field survey to document historic properties and assess project effects
  • Occasionally prepare Federal Communication Commission’s Forms 620 and 621, and associated components
  • Occasionally prepare Determinations of Eligibility

Qualifications And Capabilities

  • Master’s Degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Art History, or closely related field is required
  • Minimum of six years of full-time experience in research, writing, teaching, interpretation, or other demonstrable professional activity with an academic institution, historical organization or agency, museum, or other professional institution
  • Must be Secretary of the Interior Qualified by meeting the Architectural History qualifications described in the Secretary of Interior’s Professional Guidelines (Federal Register 48:190:44738-44739) (United States Department of the Interior 1983)
