Sterile Processing Manager - CRCST & CIS Certified - Exempt Full-Time

Summary

Under limited supervision, to manage day to day operations related to sterile processing such as mentoring and managing employees, evaluating current processes, and implementing process-improving initiatives. Responsible for managing files and sterilization records, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness of sterilizers, and ensuring that instruments and equipment are decontaminated regularly and in working order. Responsible for managing staff education and competency files.

Responsibilities

Maintains service planning and modification, procedure development and updates. Analyzes processing problems, identifies solutions and implements changes.

Manages and schedules assigned staff. Develops goals and priorities; assigns tasks and projects. Develops staff skills and training plans. Counsels, trains and coaches assigned staff. Implements corrective actions and conducts performance evaluations. Provides leadership, direction and guidance in procurement for areas of assignment. Assures compliance with regulatory and hospital procedural standards. Evaluates and assures quality standards are being met.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

A high school diploma or GED equivalent.

mInimum Experience Qualification

Non-supervisory – Eight (8) years of supply procurement and sterile processing experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

AND

Supervisory – Five (5) years’ experience at a supervisory or management level.

M INIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

  • C urrent HSPA Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
  • C urrent HSPA Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification.
  • H SPA Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) and Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) certifications, must be obtained during the first year in this position and remain current.
