Systems Engineering Manager (Satellite Engineering) - RELOCATION TO BUDAPEST

Our client is an innovative and fast-growing startup specializing in space R&D, MAIT and the manufacturing of space equipment and satellites up to 400 kg. It is a trusted partner and supplier to leading space agencies, including ESA, NASA, JAXA, and DLR.

The company is a subsidiary of a leading publicly listed telecom company, headquartered in Budapest.

We are looking for a seasoned leader with expertise in satellite systems engineering, particularly in the mini satellite class or remote sensing domain. As a Systems Engineering Manager, you will collaborate across interdisciplinary fields of engineering and management, overseeing and managing the activities of portfolio companies with a comprehensive systems-level perspective, with a primary focus on satellite system design, integration, and testing.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze customer requirements and break them down into lower-level system and subsystem requirements.
• Propose and develop the overall system architecture for satellite missions.
• Lead or support end-to-end satellite programs, covering all stages of system development and mission execution.
• Ensure designs and processes adhere to ECSS (European Cooperation for Space Standardization) or equivalent standards.
• Provide a holistic overview of the small satellite DMAIT
• Oversee the complete system design (hardware, software, and operations) and ensure product assurance to meet mission objectives.
• Perform all required project RAMS analyses (e.g. FMEA (Failure modes and effects analysis / Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Statistical Reliability/Availability Analysis, Safety Analysis, etc.)
• Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources and processes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• MUST: 8+ years of experience in satellite systems engineering.
• MUST: Experience in the full lifecycle of satellite system design, integration, and testing.
• ADVANTAGE: Experience in minisatellite class (150-400 kg) or remote sensing domains.
• ADVANTAGE: Experience with the ground segment is a strong advantage.
• Strong understanding of ECSS or equivalent space standards.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex satellite systems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
