Overview Of U.S. Learning & Development Senior Manager

L.E.K. U.S. Talent Team is the best and fastest developer of talent in strategy consulting. Our Learning & Development (L&D) team conceives of, designs, develops, manages, and coordinates the delivery of a variety of programs designed to provide our employees with the tools they need to grow and succeed at L.E.K. and beyond. Reporting to the Senior Director of Talent Development, the Learning & Development Senior Manager (L&D Sr. M) is the owner of L.E.K.’s U.S. formal learning experiences and leads the L&D team. We offer over 150 learning experiences to 900+ Americas-based employees at all levels and roles at the firm and have set aggressive goals to bolster the professional development of our people This is an exciting opportunity to revolutionize the L.E.K. L&D program by incorporating new technologies, driving the continuous improvement of our existing content library and learning experiences, as well as developing new training programs as we continue to evolve our Consulting offering. The L&D Sr. M role is a critical strategic role within the firm.

The L&D Sr. M works closely with senior leadership to set the direction for employee development at L.E.K. This role provides the daily opportunity to positively impact our colleagues, and in turn our clients. The L&D Sr. M provides far-reaching leadership across the firm, both in a highly visible manner (e.g., leading milestone in-person learning events) as well as behind-the-scenes (e.g., owning and improving the curriculum, collaborating on key firm initiatives, etc.). The L&D Sr. M will manage the U.S.-based Learning & Development Specialist and Learning & Development Curriculum Specialist along with an offshore team. The ideal candidate will balance business learning needs with instructional design and delivery best practices.

Responsibilities

Learning & Development curriculum and instructional design

  • Own curriculum and content development roadmap to enable all employees to perform their job successfully and prepare for future opportunities
  • Manage content and learning experiences ensuring cutting edge instructional design and delivery practices are integrated
  • Develop new training experiences based on future talent and business needs
  • Collaborate with sectors (i.e., consulting business units) and functional groups to understand industry and client needs and pivot learning and training approaches as necessary
  • Guide L&D team members in managing the direction of the curriculum through planning, content design teaching format, timing by level, instructional methods, etc.
  • Work with L&D team members to ideate and deliver train the trainer programs to enabling impactful learning experiences across different formats (e.g., in-person, virtual)
  • When necessary, roll up sleeves to design and develop content to help us hit our ambitious training goals

L&D operational excellence

  • Lead the L&D team in executing programming and initiatives by setting team agenda, laying out workplan, overseeing operations, leading offshore team, etc.
  • Oversee L&D team members in hosting sessions with a client-services mindset and ensure seamless execution (e.g., in-person experiences)
  • Oversee efficient and consistent execution of our offsite and onsite programming when working with vendors (e.g., hotel, restaurants, social activities, etc.)
  • Final oversight of operations to ensure administrative tasks to support the Learning & Development program is completed (e.g., calendar invites, email messaging, online page maintenance, content updates, etc.)

Learning & Development strategic direction

  • Drive long-term learning@LEK strategic initiatives (e.g., continuous improvement on new hire ramp up,)
  • Engage employees and leadership to gather feedback and ensure the learning@LEK program is delivering a value-added service
  • Drive continued innovation in learning@LEK program and delivery approach
  • Continuously develop learning and development expertise by attending conferences, developing external networks, etc.

Performance analysis and quality improvement

  • Identify trends from employee performance reviews, establish specific learning goals, and create learning experiences that meet these goals
  • Measure and report out on learning@LEK program progress to ensure excellence and drive continuous improvements
  • Employ L.E.K.-grade primary research methods and analysis to ensure program is producing results and exceeding expectations of all constituent groups

HR and L.E.K. citizenship

  • Support the broader goals of the People Team and firm-wide L.E.K. initiatives
  • Assist with People Team initiatives and activities where needed
  • Maintain unwavering confidentially with HR information
  • Exhibit a visible footprint and leadership within the firm

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10 years of adult learning, instructional design and teaching / training experience, in a professional services environment
  • Highly experienced in effective instructional design and a variety of delivery methods
  • 5 years experience leading and developing direct reports
  • Success managing a distributed team, ideally including global team members
  • Experience in leading, motivating and developing instructional content developers
  • Highly experienced in developing on-demand learning materials (e.g., LMS, instructional software, writing scripts and recording instructional video) and reference guides for adult learners
  • Strong commercial acumen and navigating business dynamics Ability to plan and manage multiple competing priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; engaging and effective presentation skills
  • Technology savvy with ability and experience working with innovative learning technology platforms
  • Solid analytical skills; experience with or willingness to learn analytical software applications (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Alteryx.) is a plus
  • Can travel 25% of the year to help coordinate off-site trainings
  • Team oriented: strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the firm
  • Professional and demonstrates integrity at all times

  • In New York, the base salary is between $110,000 - $140,000 (USD); placement within this range will vary based on experience and skill level. L.E.K. also offers a performance bonus, profit sharing and other benefits.
