Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and attends meetings with customers to support existing contracts and future business opportunities.
  • Notifies leadership of key business developments, market shifts, and customer needs.
  • Leads negotiations on new commercial opportunities/contracts with counterparties, such as suppliers, joint venture partnerships, and downstream customers.
  • Presents regularly to the SVP, Business Development, and other senior management, as required, on matters related to commercial strategies, deal flow, priorities, and current investment opportunities, including packaging business fundamentals, economics, risks, and sensitivities.
  • Performs market analysis to identify potential avenues for new business opportunities and develops these opportunities with prospective customers.
  • Tracks industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitors to anticipate market shifts and adjust business strategies accordingly.
  • Oversee the preparation of business cases and financial models to evaluate the viability of new opportunities and support decision-making processes.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment and successful execution of projects.
  • Develops and manages budgets for business development activities and ensures resource optimization.
  • Coordinates with other Business Development staff on proposal development and negotiations for new business opportunities.
  • Manages the group’s strategies and initiatives that will provide long-term success for the company.
  • Mentors' junior business development professionals, providing guidance and fostering their professional growth.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 8+ years of commercial experience in natural gas and/or midstream.
  • Significant knowledge of the energy infrastructure sector.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships, negotiating deals, and closing sales.
  • Possess an existing rolodex of relationships in the energy sector with a strong and ethical reputation.
  • Deep understanding of marketing trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to analyze market data and identify opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of growth strategies and an ability to identify and capitalize on new business development opportunities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software, and other business development tools.

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or another similar discipline.
  • MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience in managing and leading teams is a plus

Travel:

Travel required locally or long-distance up to 35% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.

Equipment:

Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to the position.

Mental and Physical Demands:

General office and sedentary. Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; occasional: lifting/carrying, pulling/pushing up to 30 pounds.

Maintain emotional control under stress, work with interruptions and deadlines.

May work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Environmental Factors:

Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Occasional exposure to weather related conditions when working in an outdoor environment.
