VP, Enterprise Risk Management JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the second line of defense Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program relating to the banking and corporate operations of the Company, including the strategy and execution of Governance, policies, analysis/reporting, issue management / remediation and business support. Working with the ERM Mortgage leader to collectively oversee the risk-based reporting program that includes assessing and appropriately documenting risk, compliance, strategic, market, or credit risks that arise from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events. Manages Third-Party Risk Management and Business Continuity Programs for the Company.

VP, Enterprise Risk Management ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):

Prepares materials and escalates risks to facilitate decision making discussions for relevant management and governance committees; includes quarterly reporting, and periodic updates of existing risks and procedures.

Provides the ERM team with a comprehensive set of tools, practices and policies to analyze and report enterprise risks, including the implementation of risk metrics and reports such as loss events and incidents, key risk exposures and early warning indicators.

Provides conceptual thinking and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex problems that include interrelationships and dependencies to identify common themes and solutions.

Oversees the implementation and execution of the ERM program in accordance with the Bank’s policy and requirements; Includes identifying and assessing enterprise and emerging risk issues, and assiging risk ratings consistent with established policy standards.

Serves as a subject matter expertise in all areas of Risk Management, including process assessment and design, process mapping and risk assessments consistent with established policy standards.

Serves as the primary advocate, and resource for the organization with respect to ERM-specific policies and procedures and assists with the creation of training or support, as necessary, to various stakeholders in order to drive awareness and understanding of enterprise-wide risk.

Escalates significant risk issues to the appropriate risk committees and monitors corrective actions to address issues, where needed.

Develops the strategy regarding the areas of key risk and performance indicators, and other controls to identify negative trends and potential control gaps.

Oversees the communication of issues/observations identified from the risk assessments with the line of business, and provides recommendations to remediate as necessary.

Presents all risk assessment and monitoring reports, ERM audit/examination findings, remediation plans and results to the Bank’s Audit and Enterprise Risk Management Committees on a quarterly basis.

Provides an objective evaluation of the business and control environment, mitigation strategies and emerging risk; evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of existing controls and provides business direction on opportunities for improvement.

Drives and supports the Risk Management culture company wide, along with managing risks associated with the Secondary operations of the Company as well as oversees and manages the Business Continuity Plan for the Company.

Participates in the department hiring, promotion, when necessary corrective action is taken, and review process while managing, mentoring, and improving support staff performance. Coaches and develops team to ensure we are meeting the needs of the company and the staff to maintain productivity and to maintain staff morale.

Exercises awareness with regard to possible suspicious activity, money laundering or fraudulent behavior and reports any such incidents to the BSA department. Performs all job functions in compliance with all company policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations as applicable to the position, including, but not limited to BSA/AML, OFAC and GLBA/privacy rules.

VP, Enterprise Risk Management REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

Advanced knowledge of enterprise risk management policies, procedures, and practices.

Advanced knowledge with regulatory and operational requirements for financial institutions engaged in lending and servicing activities.

Strong investigative, verbal, and written communication skills.

Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to understand complex business functions quickly and assess the impact and severity of findings and control issues.

Strong commitment to ethics, ability to build consensus and understand variety of issues & perspectives.

Ability to understand and explain complex issues and the ability to compromise and negotiate with senior leaders and peers.

Ability to influence and interface effectively with all levels of management

Ability to engage with regulators, investors, and other third parties as needed.

Equivalent Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting.

5 years of experience in enterprise risk management, risk, audit or business process management; including at least 5 years of experience in risk assessment, monitoring or planning roles.

Experience with Mortgage and/or Banking operations.

Experience in preparing and presenting materials to an executive level audience.

Preference that the applicant hold one of the following licenses or designations; Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certification in Enterprise Risk (CERP).

VP, Enterprise Risk Management SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:

Work requires the ability to deal with highly sensitive/confidential/privileged information and matters as well as dealing with difficult team members and/or work situations. Travel will be required (10-25%).
