Base pay range
We are looking for a VP of Finance to lead the Finance Operations, Automation and Control team. Hopper is experiencing rapid growth, and we need a leader who will take ownership over a significant portion of the finance organization and prepare Hopper for public markets. You will represent Hopper and Finance at various levels, including board interactions, C-level decisions, and the Audit Committee.
The primary focus will be on building a strong, tech-enabled Finance organization and superior internal operations & controls, leveraging technology to drive efficiency and innovation in finance operations and automation. You'll also have the flexibility to expand your scope in areas you wish to grow or where you have distinct expertise.
What Would Your Day-to-day Look Like
- Drive Finance Operations and Automation: Lead and innovate within the Finance Operations and Automation teams to develop and implement cutting-edge finance technologies. Oversee and manage the Company Ledger, ensuring streamlined processes, increased efficiency, and supporting robust data-driven decision-making business wide.
- Champion Technology Adoption: Identify and implement new financial software and tools, positioning Hopper’s finance team at the forefront of industry advancements. Monitor industry trends to ensure competitive alignment in finance capabilities.
- Control Organization Leadership: Oversee the company's tax and treasury functions to support rapid business growth. Build and maintain a strong internal control environment aligned with the company’s goal of achieving SOX compliance. Own and drive the end-to-end audit process, including relationships with external auditors, statutory account preparations, and serving as the primary liaison to the Audit Committee.
- IPO Readiness and Execution: Lead the company’s IPO readiness process, defining resource requirements, building a roadmap, and implementing all necessary changes.
- Financial Reporting and Investor Relations: Own the financial reporting cadence, ensuring accuracy, rigor, and compelling storytelling for stakeholders. Serve as a key financial voice in interactions with investors, explaining both granular financials and broader equity narratives as it pertains to statutory requirements.
- Team Leadership: Lead and grow a high-performing, tech-enabled finance organization of 25+ team members, fostering innovation, collaboration, and scalability.
- Extensive Financial Leadership Experience: At least 10+ years in finance leadership roles, preferably including time at high-growth companies.
- Public Company Experience: Direct involvement in IPOs, SOX compliance, and SEC reporting, with experience interacting with Audit Committees and external auditors.
- Collaborative Leadership: Comfortable interacting with diverse stakeholders, including board members, C-level executives, and cross-functional teams.
- Team Builder: Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor high-performing finance and operations teams in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
- Finance Automation & Operations: Strong track record of leveraging technology and automation to streamline finance operations and controls, preferably with experience in ERP implementations or system optimizations.
- Controls and Compliance: Deep expertise in establishing and maintaining internal controls, risk management practices, and audit readiness.
- Strategic Mindset: Adept at combining data-driven insights with strategic thinking to influence key decisions.

The yearly total compensation for this position ranges from 500 000$ to 750 000$ USD. Base salary will be determined by candidates' relevant qualifications, knowledge, skills and work experience. Total compensation will include a solid base salary and will also include equity (options / RSUs), potentially a sign-on bonus and other potential incentives as per the "perks and benefits" section.
