- [Instructor] Now that we understand how to use instrument and audio plugins, let's take a look at MIDI plugins. So I've got the MIDI plugins project open and I've selected the MIDI effects category in the browser so that you can see that there are several MIDI effects that are available. Now we're going to take a look at a couple that I use frequently, and a couple that also received a big update in Ableton Live 12. So on the arpeggiator track, if we look down in device view, I've got the arpeggiator plugin, and before and after it I've added the MIDI monitor plugin so that you can see the notes that I'm playing on the left. And then what the MIDI plugin is doing to it will show up on the right. I'll also remind you that MIDI plugins have to go before the virtual instrument plugins. So we see three midi plugins here and then the virtual instrument analog. So with this all set up, what I'll do to start is I'm going to play a simple C major triad.
