What you should know
- [Instructor] Let's talk about what you should know to be well prepared for the AZ-700 exam. So to get the most from this course, I want to make sure you understand the prerequisites, the requirements and expectations Microsoft has set for AZ-700 exam candidates. So when it comes to exams, Microsoft has three levels, the fundamentals exam, the associate, and the expert level. Fundamentals level exams assume you're just getting started with the technology. Associate level exams are deeply technical exams that typically assume one to two years of hands-on experience. And the expert level exam assumes two to five years experience, plus one or more prerequisite associate level certifications. AZ-700 falls in that associate level. So this is a hands-on deeply technical exam. A few prerequisites include expertise in planning, implementing, and managing Azure networking solutions. This includes core network infrastructure, hybrid connectivity, so connecting the cloud to your on-premises network, application delivery services, private access to Azure services, as well as network security. So AZ-700 is a single exam certification, but there are a few nice to have prerequisites. AZ-900, Azure Fundamentals, always nice to understand the services available in Azur. AZ-104, Azure Administrator Associate, ensuring you know your way around the Azure console. And ZZ-500, which is a cloud security focused exam. An important tip for this exam is to remember it covers a wide variety of design, implementation, and management tasks. And domain two in particular focuses on connectivity services. The core four of express route, virtual WAN, site-to-site VPN, and point-to-site VPN. Everything we cover in this course will center around those four topics, but for the exam, focus on what problem each solves, where each fits their use case scenarios, and how to implement at least the high level steps over memorizing the minutiae of product SKUs. Those will be less likely to be tested. And you may ask yourself, what if I don't meet these experience prerequisites? Well, I'd say to you essentially, don't worry. In this course, you will gain valuable knowledge, you'll understand what knowledge you should focus on for the exam, you'll gain a better sense of your exam readiness. The one thing we can't do in the course of the next couple of hours is give you that hands-on experience, that one to two years of experience in the field you'll need to be ready for exam day. However, I will provide links to short challenge lab exercises as we progress so you can get some practice. But wherever you are in your preparation, this course will get you further faster in your prep for the AZ-700 exam and that Azure Network Engineer Associate Certification. Good luck.
