Advanced playlist clip tools
- The playlist allows you to manipulate patterns even more than you might imagine, allowing you to mute specific parts so you can easily subtract parts of a track without muting entire mixer tracks. Furthermore, you can use the snap to grid tool to further manipulate the position of patterns. Firstly, let's create some blank MIDI patterns so that we can then edit them. In order to do this, of course, we can use the pattern selector up here. Let's create a new pattern. Again, we'll call it Demo. And then let's use the paint tool in the left hand corner here to then draw in onto the playlist, like so. What we can then do is use some of the tools in the top left hand corner to further edit these pattern clips. For instance, we can use the slicing tool, which you can see here. Clicking on this can then enable us to slice up these pattern clips like so, by just clicking and dragging over them, just like you can with MIDI notes in the piano roll.
