The shooting script
- Writing a shooting script is a challenge because you're trying to balance two competing interests. One is your incredible imagination and all the amazing ideas that you have, and one is what could realistically be shot for the time and the budget. So one way to marry those two things is to go through a process of going through your treatment, going through that outline, pulling out those key points, and making sure you're touching on them, creating some kind of story arc, but also of course coming up with some new, bold ideas. So I have an example for you of a shooting script in-process. Now in this case it was actually a green screen shoot with somebody talking about fundraising techniques. And so in my script I was actually already putting in a few ideas for what images might be on the screen, or what animations we might be incorporating later. And so on the left-hand side of each column you'll see in some cases I've actually even pulled just some little piece of stock imagery…
