- [Instructor] When laying out photo books, the key is that the type is very much in a supporting role, so passages of text should be brief and surrounded by generous white space. Because the eye will fall first on the right page, it's common to put the image on the recto and the supporting caption on the verso. The type is small and sans serif is a more likely choice than serif. The text is often aligned to the bottom margin or to the bottom edge of the photo. Let's take a look. Here, the book is in landscape format, because the photographs are landscaped. The aspect ratio of the live area, the area inside the margins, corresponds to the aspect ratio of the images, so that they fit without cropping. The text is 9 point on 12 point letting in a sans serif type face. To avoid the line length becoming too long, I've halved the column width, and to vertically align the text within the type area, I've chosen Object, Text…
