Broadcom joins Trillion Dollar Club
Broadcom’s market valuation surged past $1 trillion for the first time on Friday, fueled by what the chipmaker calls a “massive” opportunity in artificial intelligence. During a quarterly earnings call Thursday evening, CEO Hock Tan said the company is developing custom AI chips for three large cloud customers, and that the business could generate up to $90 billion in revenue by 2027. One of those customers is OpenAI, according to anonymously sourced reporting by Reuters and Bloomberg. Broadcom is also working with Apple to develop a server chip that can scale artificial intelligence features, The Information reports, citing anonymous sources.
