It is extremely important to continue promoting climate justice. If we interrupt or fall behind schedule, we will pass on a larger debt to the next generation. However, only a few local governments are proactive in this effort. Most local governments are extremely reluctant to pay the current costs. This is also true for companies. In the meantime, the progress of global warming will not stop. Climate Week will be held in New York from tomorrow. Various adverse effects of abnormal weather will cause floods and sea level rise. In addition, the power generation from renewable energy that we are currently working on cannot be transmitted to the aging conventional power grid, which creates a situation where the electricity generated is not used efficiently. So what should we do? Assuming that government-led measures will definitely not be in time, I think that this is the stage where each individual should take appropriate action.

Inside Climate News Pulitzer Prize-winning, nonpartisan reporting on the biggest crisis facing our planet. Fossil Fuels Oil Industry Asks Trump to Repeal Major Climate Policies The American Petroleum Institute’s list of requests to the incoming Trump administration would remove many of the available federal tools to rein in deadly global warming. November 13, 2024 America’s oil industry released its wish list for the incoming Trump administration on Tuesday, a five-point plan that would eliminate many of the Biden administration’s most far-reaching efforts to reduce climate pollution and limit the warming that is driving ever more destructive and deadly extreme weather. The list, released by the American Petroleum Institute and coming on the second day of the global United Nations climate conference, does not mention the words “climate change.” The document maintains that the industry group and its members agree on the need to reduce emissions. Yet its requests, if enacted, would remove many of the tools available to the United States to achieve that goal. https://lnkd.in/djwSfmJV

Interesting study shows the world is concerned about climate change but 1 in every 2 Americans say they are not exposed to environmental and climate change risks despite the empirical evidence showing climate change impacting every corner of the US. What is crucial is that we need to turn high awareness and concern about climate change into action and see we have an equal stake in shaping the outcomes. #climateaction #science #globalgoals Read more: https://lnkd.in/ePmZFreR

Roughly one in two Americans said they are not very or not at all exposed to #environmental and #climatechange risks. Those perceptions contrast sharply with empirical evidence showing that climate change is having an impact in nearly every corner of the United States.

This support for Harris is a sign of a desire for change. The arrival of President Obama and now the nomination of Harris are a cry from people who have been discriminated against until now. Extreme weather caused by global warming is affecting poor people and countries. Companies that have ignored global warming and covered up their own wrongdoings, and politicians who have lined their pockets through fake lobbying activities, should step down immediately. I look forward to the emergence of politicians who will use the power of the class that demands change to build a new framework.

As the world focuses on reducing carbon emissions and enhancing financial reporting regulations to address climate change, there remains progress to be made in reporting transparency. Some of the largest carbon emitters are yet to provide a comprehensive view of their emissions. #ClimateChange #CarbonEmissions #ReportingTransparency

#goodIdea UN Secretary-General Says the World Must Turbocharge the Fossil Fuel Phaseout As a new report shows accelerating warming threatens 70 percent of the world’s workers, Antonio Guterres warns that wealthy countries expanding fossil fuel industries “are signing away our future.” Ongoing deadly heat waves around the world, set against the backdrop of a seemingly endless series of annual, monthly and daily heat records on every continent and ocean, prompted United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to make an urgent call to “turbo charge” cuts to fossil fuels. https://lnkd.in/g4GtHXTm

Average Global Temperature Has Warmed 1.5 Degrees Celsius Above Pre-industrial Levels for 12 Months in a Row By Bob Berwyn Last month wasn’t only the hottest June by far in the observed temperature record, but marked the first-ever 12-month stretch of the Earth’s average temperature exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius of temperature rise above the pre-industrial baseline against which human-caused warming is measured. “This is more than a statistical oddity and it highlights a large and continuing shift in our climate,” said Carlo Buontempo, director of the Copernicus Climate Change Service, which released its monthly update Monday. The report showed that, over the past 12 months, the planet’s average temperature was 1.64 degrees Celsius above the 1850-1900 reference period. Even when the current string of extremes ends at some point, Buontempo added, “more records will be broken … This is inevitable, unless we stop adding [greenhouse gases] into the atmosphere and the oceans.” Read on at https://lnkd.in/eduKH64G

Last week was a big week of climate news. Here's what we're doing about it. Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek approved three massive coal mine extensions that are set to pump out over a billion tonnes of climate pollution until 2048. That’s more than DOUBLE Australia’s total annual emissions. Meanwhile, the energy plan put forward by the Coalition was a smokescreen designed to hide the fact that if elected they plan to keep burning coal and gas for decades to come. The planet and our kids can’t afford this. Climate change will get worse if we don’t stop burning fossil fuels. Australia must stop approving new coal, oil and gas projects. It’s that simple. So what now? Climate solutions need to be fought for. Through collective action, we can influence policy and push for the kind of transformation that’s needed. This is the purpose of Groundswell. By bringing together a community of donors, we’re co-funding high-impact climate advocacy initiatives across Australia. We know this works because also in the news this week: the companies behind a massive seismic blasting proposal in Australia’s oceans have withdrawn their plans. That’s a gas blasting project in an ocean area larger than Tasmania stopped thanks to years of community campaigning! Our grant making helped make this win happen – and many more like it. Now, we need more wins. Bigger ones too. Which is why we’ve launched our Major Giving Circle. As a collective of philanthropic funders, we can drive large-scale, systemic change that would otherwise be impossible. So far we’ve raised $800k to deploy by the end of the year. Can you help us reach out $1m goal? Learn more about what’s involved here: https://lnkd.in/g6F43KwT

Why is that there are such high levels of global support for climate action, and yet we feel a lack of collective efficacy? That the people around us don’t care? I had a great chat with Martin Kuebler and Deutsche Welle this week on the subject. Martin’s excellent article can be found here https://lnkd.in/gxz28nyT
