Hi LinkedIn Community! Are you curious about how sustainable energy practices help with climate change mitigation? Well, I have some really interesting findings to share with you today! I am Haozhe Liu, an enthusiast of sustainable development. Recently, I researched sustainable energy practices and climate change mitigation in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action). With regard to “World Development Indicators” from The World Bank Group, I analyzed the relationship between CO2 emissions per capita and renewable energy use. Against some skeptics’ views, my research shows that indeed there is a positive correlation between increased use of renewable energy and less carbon dioxide emission as well—this indicates that we are moving in the right direction towards creating a stable future consistent with SDG 7 & SDG 13. During the course time, I learnt much about data visualizations and communication. If I were to give it a score now on reflection, it would be eight out of ten. It has been not easy though fruitful experience that will enable me apply this expertise to my upcoming professional goals. Watch my three minute presentation on this topic please. @Poon Leung @ Mr Z Gong #ClimateChange #SustainableEnergy #SDG7 #SDG13 #DataAnalysis#unswDataVisComm

🌍 It was inspiring to discuss the future of climate technologies during New York Climate Week. Here are my key takeaways: 1️⃣ Over the past decade, renewable energy scaled by 10x. The next wave of climate technologies needs to scale by 100x in the coming decade. 2️⃣ This next wave of climate interventions is maturing and commercializing, poised to deliver ~45% of the required decarbonization. To succeed, we need accelerated timelines for offtake as scaling deployment by 100x can reduce unit costs by ~70%. 3️⃣ Innovative collaborations are forming to deliver solutions, such as environmental outcome-based bonds and cross-value chain partnerships. These initiatives will unlock the full potential of emerging technologies, which are expected to become economically viable within ~5 years. Let's continue to drive these innovations and partnerships forward! 🌱💡#ClimateWeekNYC #McKinseySustainability

Japan Climate Leaders' Partnership (JCLP) submitted its proposals for Japan's next greenhouse gas reduction targets and basic energy plan to Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ken Saito. Japan Climate Leaders' Partnership, comprising 244 companies committed to the early realization of a decarbonized society, submitted its proposals for Japan's next greenhouse gas reduction targets and basic energy plan to Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ken Saito, on July 5, 2024. Kohei Nishiwada, CEO of Asuene, participated in the presentation alongside Yoshinori Yamashita, Chairman of Ricoh and co-representative of JCLP, engaging in discussions with them. Nishiwada from Asuene conveyed to Minister Saito that providing JCLP and Asuene withan opportunity to participate in the discussion within the policy-making process would enable them to showcase best practices from foreign countries including the U.S. and Singapore. This led to vibrant discussions aimed at achieving a decarbonized society through public-private collaboration. The proposals submitted by JCLP concerning Japan's next greenhouse gas reduction targets and basic energy plan include three key recommendations, detailed below. JCLP Proposal(Japanese only): https://lnkd.in/geQgtESv Additionally, to achieve over a 75% reduction in GHG emissions and a renewable energy ratio of over 60% by 2035, specific policy proposals have been made for five sectors: renewable energy, buildings, transportation, manufacturing, and carbon pricing.

【Summary of APAC Climate Action Progress Report by MSCI ESG Research】 The APAC Climate Action Progress Report by MSCI ESG Research examines a wide range of areas includes emissions reporting, climate targets, transition risks and opportunities within the Asia-Pacific region. Although Asia-Pacific economies have experienced significant growth in recent years, this growth has come at a cost. The region is heavily reliant on fossil-fuel-powered generation, accounting for over 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions in 2023. It calls for enhanced corporate accountability through emissions reporting and ambitious climate targets. Governments in the Asia Pacific region have also intensified their regulatory efforts in address climate-related risks. What are the key pillars highlighted in the report regarding the APAC region's progress toward a more sustainable future? In terms of energy transition, is the utility energy mix in the Asia-Pacific region shifting towards renewable energy sources?
