You’ve heard the horrifying stories about parents who accidentally leave their kids or pets in the backseat of their vehicle during hot summer months because they were tired/distracted/rushed. I cannot imagine the absolute eternal soul-wrenching impact of losing a child or other loved one in this way. Thankfully, there is finally a solution. NOVELDA has partnered with GlobalFoundries to leverage ultra-low-power, ultra-wideband (UWB) radar in chips for the purposes of precision locating. This automotive application is promising. UWB can be used in a sensor to detect the presence (and number) of people or pets in a car—even if they are asleep or motionless. The tech has other exciting potential applications in healthcare and consumer electronics, but its use to protect kids and animals can be a huge win.
