“Celebrate the wins.” -Andy Hulsey “Mark every milestone.” -Lorenzo (Lawrence) Perez This past week was a good week. We cleared a significant hurdle on an important project by delivering gas service to a mission critical facility. Seeing the pressure gauge rise, seeing that task completed—nothing beats that moment of accomplishment on a construction job, especially when it’s been hard fought day in and day out like most things are on a jobsite. In that moment I was reminded of advice I’ve been given by two mentors in particular who have helped me grow as a project manager and a leader. Advice that matters so much when you’re in the trenches every day fighting. That sometimes you gotta slow down, pick up your head, and just appreciate every incremental win. Because that’s how you attack every big problem and every big project. Bird by bird, task by task, milestone by milestone. If you don’t appreciate those moments, you’ll burn out. If you don’t get energy from them, you’ll run on empty. I’m so grateful to the people I’ve gotten to work with in this industry. And thanks to them I’ll always remember and always remind every team I’m apart of that it’s important to celebrate every win and mark every milestone. Now, on to the next hurdle. What milestone did you hit today, and how can you stop and celebrate?

The Q3 deadline is fast approaching, and our team is laser-focused on achieving the goals we've set for ourselves and the company. Before we shift our sights to Q4, it’s crucial that we finish strong to avoid rolling anything over. The Australian infrastructure and construction sectors are in need of urgent reform to address long run declines in productivity and meet capacity constraints. It has been a great pleasure to partner with the John Grill Institute for Project Leadership to develop the Major Project Reform Roadmap. The Roadmap describes a series of specific actions that industry, government and academia can own to realise the change. If you have been part of the major projects sector, whether built or digital, join in the movement to change but signing onto the Roadmap and joining the launch.
Join us to celebrate the launch of our Major Projects Reform Roadmap, which will transform major projects in Australia! Leading organisations have already committed to driving change through this roadmap which we will finally be unveiling to the public. As part of this launch, we will also be hosting a panel discussion featuring key major project leaders including Graeme Newton (CEO, Cross River Rail Delivery Authority) and Tim Parker (CEO, High Speed Rail Authority)! Refer to the attached link for more information and to register to attend. #JGIPL #projectleadership #projectmanagement

Today our CEO Patti Poppe shared many critical updates on our progress on being the company our customers deserve. Patti's story this quarter was around a novel yet simple approach on how we look at maintenance work through the lens of being a signal project versus thousands and thousands of individual scopes of work annually, this is now called a Mega Bundle Circuit Project (MBCP). A single circuit project can have over 1000 scopes of work. I was asked to lead and create this strategy with our team and look at what is possible if we think differently and leverage breakthrough in all work streams? What is possible is saving more than 20%, significantly lowering crews and the publics safety exposure, align work processes and create assembly line style execution approach in the field! When we can connect all teams to think breakthrough and align and compliment actions we can achieve force multiplier breakthrough results which amplifies overall outcomes! An effort of this magnitude takes partnerships from over ten different functional groups all moving towards one goal with our customers in the center of everything we do while never compromising safety, quality, or compliance. I can’t thank everyone involved to date, but I do want to thank the leadership of our teams that really pushed us all to think breakthrough and then move to breakthrough out comes not just thoughts. Thank you Jeff Matthews, Julian Cadotte, Phuong Tseng, and Jana Browning, PMP, CPSM, CPSD for your leadership and continued support.

"In the restoration business, tough conversations are just part of the job. Whether it’s about performance issues, resolving conflicts on-site, or discussing tricky topics with clients, these talks are crucial for keeping things running smoothly. While it’s tempting to dodge them—especially when things get a little tense—avoiding these conversations can lead to bigger problems that can mess with team morale, project timelines, and even your reputation." Marcie Richardson, COO of Guarantee Restoration Services in Baton Rouge, shares reasons WHY we need to continue to have tough conversations with our team, and the benefits of being clear and straight forward, listening, and showing you care in her latest Team Talk column.
