What a week it was in Doha! Tripkliq made its debut on the global stage at the inaugural Web Summit conference in Doha, Qatar. We travelled alongside many startup friends from Asia, in a collaboration orchestrated by our friends at Jumpstart Media (James Kwan) and InvestHK (Chin Yung (CY) LU). ✈ Our first venture into this melting pot of startups from around the globe was nothing short of inspirational! Engaging in dialogue with fellow travel startups, businesses, media, and tech innovators has only fueled our passion to develop the ultimate all-in-one travel platform. 🚀 Here are some standout individuals we had the honor of meeting at the conference: - Carla Boangiu & Ruchi Tandon, who provided insights into Qatar Airways strides towards personalized customer experiences and AI integration. - Sara Al Yafei from Qatar Tourism was upbeat on the ability to showcase Qatar to travelers through Tripkliq's unique ability to provide a connected experience fueling insight into Qatar across the 5 stages of travel. - Abd Elmohaimen M. from Seeru, whose journey from a nascent to a market leading, fully-fledged platform offered invaluable insights for Tripkliq's own path. - Markus Hamann @ CloudSafari, Inc., who is making significant strides in Africa to consolidate the tour business by working directly with operators—a testament to founders who truly embody their business. - Mr. Marcus Bradley Munjoma,Sci.Hons @ BaytTravel, who shared the narrative of creating one of Qatar’s premier luxury property rental enterprises. - Siu Rui Quek, from whom we learned about Carousell Group's impressive growth into a leading marketplace in South East Asia over the past 12 years. These interactions represent phenomenal prospects for expanding our partner network and enhancing the most comprehensive travel planning experience in the market. 💡 The summit was a pivotal moment for Tripkliq, it marked Tripkliq's introduction to a broad spectrum of global investors and angels. From our inaugural startup pitch to our first director pitch, the reception to our value proposition and platform was extraordinary. These startups are making it easier than ever to discover Malaysia! Once again, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) is leading the way with a specialized program to build and accelerate digital tourism startups. Today, I attended the Digital Tourism Innovation Lab Demo Day, where I learned from several amazing founders who pitched in person and answered our questions. Some even came to Malaysia specifically to join the program, as no other country offers anything similar. LFG: A curated list of destinations with personalized recommendations and information from social media and Google Maps. Doifoo: Founded by avid travelers familiar with the hassle of endless form-filling at hotels, airlines, and intermediaries, this platform offers a centralized, secure personal data repository for solo, business, and family travelers. Actsugi: Developing a platform and services for 360-degree content, enabling users to experience virtual immersive visits to city heritage sites, industries, and events. JommOutdoor: Helps users find outdoor activities, share them with other enthusiasts to meet minimum participant requirements, and book with licensed adventure guides. Pilgrim Pal: Simplifies location tracking and assistance for Umrah and Hajj travelers and their families during pilgrimage. Epic Travel: A platform where travelers can share stories, monetize their efforts, and inspire others. Some founders also asked me what they could learn from Spain—the world’s second most visited country—and about Spanish companies in Malaysia. I see great synergy here, and I’d love to see our countries and companies collaborate in the digital tourism space. Creating a successful accelerator is no easy feat, especially in a niche market like the #travel industry. The pandemic has shifted travel habits and even sparked the rise of digital nomads. I’m grateful to have met Daniel Cheng from RTM - Redefine Tourism Mixer https://lnkd.in/guMJyiKy during this period, who is not only a friend but also the primary founder and driving force behind this accelerator. As a companion, business advisor, and resource coordinator, it’s been rewarding to witness the accelerator https://lnkd.in/gh2_we-5 reach its third cohort. It started with a gathering of travel-focused startups, expanded in its second year to include teams in lifestyle experiences and regional revitalization, even establishing collaborations with #Japan. Now, the third cohort embraces a diversity of sectors, integrating entertainment, lifestyle, and fitness. Looking ahead, with the rise of #AI, we are entering a new era where work may no longer be the central focus for many.
