This week we mark #WorldMentalHealthDay. Did you know that more than 1 in 10 people in the U.S. have a panic attack every year? These sudden, intense episodes of fear, accompanied by physical symptoms like a racing heart, difficulty breathing, chest pain, sweating, and nausea can feel like a heart attack. When these attacks happen repeatedly, the condition is called panic disorder. Like many mental health challenges, panic attack symptoms often worsen with time. And ignoring them doesn’t make them go away. This month and every month, Freespira is committed to providing effective, accessible treatment to people struggling with #panicattacks. Addressing root causes rather than just diagnoses is crucial because it leads to genuine solutions. Our understanding of mental health has often been clouded by symptom-based labels, which offer little more than reassurance. Diagnoses like those in the ‘Diagnostic and Statistical Manual’ (DSM) provide a common language but don't explain the underlying issues. Nervous system theory offers a clearer perspective by linking symptoms to physiological causes. For example, many mental health issues are rooted in nervous system dysregulation. By focusing on these root causes, we can implement real solutions, treating the body to alleviate problems related to the underlying causes, rather than offering a diagnosis as a solution. #NervousSystem #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness
