⚪ Case Study: Successful Design For Manufacture Implementation ⚪ At Cullen 3D Design, we pride ourselves on our successful design for manufacturing projects. Here’s a case study showcasing how we help clients bring their product to market efficiently: Client Background: 🔸 Industry: Manufacturing Challenge: 🔸 Complex Design: The client needed a complex design that was challenging to manufacture. 🔸 Cost Constraints: The project had budget constraints. Our Approach: 1️⃣. Initial Analysis 🔸 Requirements Gathering: Understanding the client’s specific needs and manufacturing capabilities. 🔸 Feasibility Study: Conducting a feasibility study to identify potential manufacturing challenges. 2️⃣. Design Phase 🔸 Detailed Drawings: Creating detailed and precise CAD drawings with all necessary specifications. 🔸 Material Selection: Recommending cost-effective and suitable materials for the design. 3️⃣ . Finalisation 🔸 Production-Ready Design: Delivering a final design that was ready for manufacturing. 🔸 Support: Providing ongoing support during the initial production run to address any issues. Outcome: 🔸 Successful Production: The client successfully manufactured the product on time and within budget. 🔸 Client Satisfaction: Everyone was highly satisfied with the design and support provided by Cullen 3D Design. Since the release of FreeCAD 1.0, there have been experimental updates to how we interact with the Body concept. This caught my curiosity, especially since I've been using the Body as a given without truly understanding its purpose until now. I want to share this basic information about the Body as it might help clarify whether these changes enhance or complicate our design workflows. Here's a breakdown of what the Body is meant for in FreeCAD's Part Design workbench: In the FreeCAD's Part Design workbench, operations like extrusions (Pads) or cuts (Pockets) are based on the concept of a single object (the body) — a continuous piece of material. When you make a hole, it's subtracted from this body, keeping the integrity of one solid object. So, the PartDesign Body in FreeCAD is a single, coherent piece of material. Why the Body matters: ✅ Single Solid Integrity: A PartDesign Body ensures you're working on one coherent piece, not a collection of parts masquerading as one. ✅ Design Clarity: It provides an Origin with X, Y, Z axes and planes, anchoring your sketches in space. The Body is not a container to group objects, as one would think. That is done by the Std Part. So, don't confuse the two. For more on the Body check out the FreeCAD documentation: https://lnkd.in/eWG-rPVP

Imagine slashing spare part lead times from weeks to mere hours. 🤯 Not bad, right? If you like the sound of that, take a cue from machinery manufacturer Assan ASP and embrace #3Dscanning. ⚡ With the highly versatile Artec 3D Eva and Geomagic Design X, Assan have overhauled their approach to making replacement parts. Scanning enables them to recreate parts like drawbar & yoke and circle assemblies that would previously have required extensive sketching. Engineers can quickly and easily digitize assemblies that are 3-4 meters long and feature reflective exteriors. Want to know how it all works? Read the story: https://lnkd.in/dfcQBWjD

𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝟯𝗗 𝗖𝗔𝗗 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 IronCAD offers an innovative approach to design, enabling greater flexibility and efficiency. Start by selecting 3D shapes from catalogs that can be easily dragged and dropped into your model. Making precise adjustments is simple, just push or pull the shapes to achieve the desired changes in seconds. When needed, you can dive into a 2D sketch to refine the shape, without the need for creating reference planes or using extrude commands. With IronCAD’s patented TriBall, you can seamlessly position and pattern objects in 3D, bypassing traditional methods that rely on reference planes. IronCAD is designed to allow you to create intuitively, offering tools and features that act as a natural extension of your creativity.
