🎄 ‘Tis the season for festive fun at work! The office Christmas party is a highlight of the year—time to unwind, celebrate success, and bond with your team. But while the fun is flowing, it’s worth keeping a few ground rules in mind to ensure the celebration doesn’t lead to regrets. Here are some simple tips for party-goers to keep things professional and enjoyable: 📱 Think before you post: Social media can be a minefield! Posting pictures or stories from the party? Make sure it’s something your colleagues (and boss!) would feel comfortable seeing the next day. 🍹 Pace yourself: Enjoy the drinks, but don’t let them lead to oversharing or behaviour you wouldn’t want remembered in Monday’s meeting. Safeguarding against things like sexual harassment are just as rigid at the Christmas party as in the office setting. 💬 Stay respectful: Office parties are still professional settings. Avoid inappropriate jokes, gossip, or comments that could cause discomfort. 🎶 Have fun, responsibly: This is your time to relax and connect with your colleagues—just remember, you’ll still be working together after the party is over! For all the fun that is had though, one survey conducted a few years ago found that one in ten people had been disciplined or even dismissed for misbehaving at the office Christmas party. 🎃 It's spooky season and as a remote team we love an excuse to get together at Needi. Even though we're super busy arranging bespoke Christmas gifts all over the world right now… we decided to take a pause and do a group activity. Our amazing 'Internal Sunshine' rep Amy organised pumpkins and snacks to be sent to the entire needi team and we had a lunchtime carving competition! Not only did we get some time away from our emails, we got some infamous 'water cooler chat' in too! We learned that Rach's new table arrived with the wrong legs so she had to sit in the garden to carve, Kirsty used to be a flight attendant and Jess wanted to be a vet until her Mum asked her if she'd be able to put a pet down (she absolutely would not!) It's all these teeny bits of information that help you learn about each other, understand each other and build deeper connections. According to Teamstage, as many as 86% of executives feel a lack of collaboration is responsible for company failures at large. And teams that know each other well definitely collaborate better. Team building doesn't have to be expensive, it doesn't even have to be in the same place!
