What an inspiring way to start the month of March! Today, we delved into the world of creativity, empowering women in tech through Soft Skill Training for Women Techsters Fellows 2024 (#WTF24). Our session, led our amazing @Moyinoluwa Akindele from Wema Bank's Purple Academy, highlighted the transformative power of creativity in the tech space. Creativity isn't just about thinking outside the box; it's about challenging the status quo and driving progressive change. As we explore new ideas and approaches, we unlock doors to unconventional solutions to tech challenges. Despite facing creative mental blocks like self-doubt and fear of failure, we can overcome them by embracing imperfection and seeking mentorship. Collaboration, diverse teams, and a supportive environment are vital in nurturing creativity. As we continue to break barriers, ask questions, and embrace the beauty of imperfection on our journey towards greater creativity in tech. And remember, never underestimate the power of a good book. #WTFC24 #WomenTechstersFellowship #WomenTechsters #AfricanWomanInTechnology #Nigeria #Tech4dev #EmpoweringWomenInTech #CreativityInTech

ComputerWeekly Nominate: Most Influential Women in UK Technology 2024 Tell us who you think should be included in Computer Weekly’s 2024 list of the 50 most influential women in UK technology Making sure women in the UK’s technology community are made more visible and accessible is also a vital part of Computer Weekly’s process for selecting the woman who deserves the title of most influential. The number of nominations has grown each year since its inception in 2012, where the list only featured 25 women, with last year’s longlist featuring more than 600 women. Each year, we also recognise the technology sector’s Rising Stars alongside the top 50, as well as add several great women in tech to our Hall of Fame, of which there are now 50 members. Once the nominations are received, a group of expert judges will choose the top 50 shortlist, after which Computer Weekly readers can then vote on the top 50 via an online poll to indicate who on the shortlist they believe should be named the 2024 Most Influential Woman in UK Technology. The winner, as well as the final order of the top 50, will be announced at the Computer Weekly/Nash Squared diversity in tech event in London later this year.

Why do gender-inclusive cyberspaces matter? I address this question in this article for Economic Times: 1) Women still face many inequalities in our world 2) Virtual spaces are taking an increasingly important role in our lives 3) The cyberspace has a tendency to replicate and amplify biases Adopting an “Inclusive by design” approach is crucial to set the right foundations now, while the virtual world is still in its early stages. Correcting courses later on and removing established biases would be more difficult. Three angles to consider are: 1) Fairness 2) Safety 3) Accessibility. Can you think of examples of inclusive approaches in the cyberspace? https://lnkd.in/daDE_kSV
Why is it important to create more gender-inclusive cyberspaces?
