The introduction of a dual-level system for science and social science subjects in CBSE could lead to an increase in the number of students passing Class X. Academics believe the two-tier system can foster an inclusive learning environment by catering to diverse learning needs. However, challenges such as the absence of NCERT textbooks, shortage of trained faculty, and inadequate classrooms, especially in rural areas, need to be addressed. #multidisciplinarylearning #nationaleducationpolicy #inclusivelearning #diverselearning #educationalresources

💡 The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) confirms that England has maintained its high global performance in mathematics. NCETM, delivered by Etio, is pleased to note that the report confirms England's continued strength in mathematics, with pupils in Year 5 and Year 9 performing significantly above the international average. The National Report for England (December 2024) highlights the role of England’s mastery-based approach, promoted by the NCETM and Maths Hubs since 2014, in contributing to these sustained high performances. It cautions against attributing causation solely to this factor, though it is notable that this approach to teaching mathematics is shared by the highest performing nations in the study. ICYMI: NCETM Director Charlie Stripp and NCETM Director for Primary Debbie Morgan explore how reforms can be implemented to foster deeper learning outcomes in primary maths, and the important roles that teaching for mastery and professional development have to play in a primary curriculum fit for the future. "Implementing a rigorous new pedagogy to transform the way maths is taught is a major challenge for schools and whilst teachers and leaders in the schools involved are rising to the challenge, we all acknowledge there is no ‘quick fix’ – it takes time for leaders’ effort and reflection to bring about and embed meaningful schoolwide improvements to teaching." Earlier this year, I defended my dissertation "Unlocking Student Motivation: A Phenomenological Study of Employing an Open Education Pedagogy (OEP) Course Model in Undergraduate Education;" I have just learned today that it has been published and is now available for viewing (CC BY SA) 🎉: https://lnkd.in/eUBMS5Ex A teaser - this study makes the connection between undergraduate student participation in courses with a shared OER authorship + OA publishing model and increased levels of engagement in course content. This is accomplished using Self-Determination Theory (SDT), specifically Cognitive Evaluation Theory (CET), as a theoretical framework (Ryan & Deci, 2017), and IPA (interpretive phenomenological analysis) as the analytic framework. Happy to field any questions on it - and always *delighted* to collaborate with any other educators out there looking to redesign their curriculum to include renewable assignments!
