Sustainability can be fun and engaging.
Renewables and recycling is pushed by everybody on Linkedin and it is not going to solve climate change, energy crisis, plastic waste my solution is to build waste to energy plants
In Copenhagen, Denmark lies Amager Bakke, a unique power plant. Not only is it the world's cleanest waste-to-energy facility, it's also home to a man-made mountain called CopenHill with its own ski slope, the world's tallest climbing wall and challenging hiking trails up the building where you'll find the best views of Copenhagen.

Turning non recyclable waste into electricity, heating, and produces more clean water than it uses. Apart from the cost, it's hard to see the downside! Unless you run a waste management business, because as the more we recycle, the higher the cost of service rises for rubbish disposal, but is this where we need to get to?

Croatia, Greece, Austria: Which European destinations have the cleanest water for swimming? 🏖 Summer holidays are approaching, and we are selecting the perfect destinations to relax. Recently, one factor has become very important in our decision-making: the quality of the water. 🌊 In 2023, 85 per cent of Europe's reported 22,081 bathing waters were of excellent quality. Destinations like Cyprus, Austria, Croatia, and Greece lead the way with 95 per cent or more of bathing waters rated excellent. In order to obtain and improve condition of our sea, at the DIH Innovamare we are focused on: ➡️ development of innovative technologies ➡️ improvement of community cooperation and education ➡️ enhancement of policy advocacy and governance 🔵 With these activites, we can create a healthier and more sustainable sea, balancing environmental protection with economic and social development. How Climbing Can Transform Communities - The Kalymnos Example If you’ve ever climbed on the stunning limestone cliffs of Kalymnos, Greece, you know it’s not just a world-class climbing destination—it’s a community that thrives on the sport. Once a quiet, traditional fishing village (with actually main source of income was sponges that were cultivated by local divers🤿- and btw still available there today!) - Kalymnos is now a bustling hub for climbers from around the globe. Local businesses—from cozy tavernas to gear shops, accommodations, and transport services—have flourished thanks to climbing tourism. This incredible transformation showcases the power of climbing to uplift rural and remote areas, creating sustainable livelihoods while preserving the environment and celebrating local culture. At the CDN, this is the vision we aspire to scale globally. We connect climbers with certified guides and local businesses, empowering communities to benefit from this growing sport. With 55 million climbers worldwide and climbing now featured in the Olympics, the potential to create opportunities in rural areas is limitless. Kalymnos proves it’s possible. We’re here to make it the norm. Together, let’s connect, climb, and create a better future for local communities. Bringing climbing everywhere and to everyone!

My summit to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro was a success!! Quick takeaways and thoughts: 1. Thank you to Climbing Kilimanjaro (CK) and our incredible guides and support team - this was not possible without them! I am happy to discuss this trip with anyone wishing to and have lots of thoughts and recommendations. 2. TAKE TIME - We all have to decide what, where, and for how long, but spending time in isolation allows you to deconstruct and reconstruct yourself and solve complex issues in your head - How can you do this? I would say you can do the things you do and function at a high level 95% of the time BECAUSE you do this 5% of the time. Your mind needs time for software updates. 3. DIVE OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE - and that is what this was for me 1000%, graduating from childhood backyard camping to high wind, high altitude camping for 7 nights in one swoop - not to mention the physical and mental toll - you can do whatever you put your mind to, but you have to challenge yourself - just the same intellectually 4. BE GRATEFUL for the infrastructure and opportunity many of us have and grow accustomed to. We take for granted there are massive parts of the world still lacking access to clean water and economic opportunity we have readily available. I am committed to finding ways I can do more and also encourage everyone to be open to investment in research and technology in underdeveloped markets. 5. ENHANCED PERSPECTIVE for my team and clients - going through this experience has reminded me that anything is possible and I am committed to pushing myself to arrive at even more efficient and creative solutions, applying the same preparatory discipline.

🌊 South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula is about to catch a massive wave of excitement with the announcement of 'The Break Surf & Stay,' a groundbreaking surf park and hospitality hub. 🏄♂️ This $100 million project just received the green light from the City of Onkaparinga Council Assessment Panel, a major win for the region's tourism industry. 🎉 🚀 As 'The Break Surf & Stay' gears up to become a magnet for tourists and surf enthusiasts, nearby property values are expected to soar. 📈 The allure of world-class surfing experiences and top-notch hospitality will undoubtedly attract a surge of visitors, creating a ripple effect of demand for accommodation, dining and leisure activities in the vicinity. This development isn't just about waves and relaxation; it's a catalyst for economic growth and investment opportunities. 🌟 Property investors, take note: the Fleurieu Peninsula is on the brink of a transformation, and being part of this wave early on could mean riding the crest of a lucrative property market. 🏡💰 For southern packages, including exclusive stock and also to get on the waitlist of exciting new projects, contact me via LesW@Fairmonthomes.com.au or 0402123345🌴 ☀️ #TheBreakSurfAndStay #FleurieuPeninsula #PropertyInvestmentOpportunity #Adelaide #SouthAustralia

🏊♀️ https://lnkd.in/d5JQydmB 🏊♂️ ⤴ An interesting perspective on city planning—swimmable cities! I believe it's worth investing in making urban water bodies swimmable, as this will benefit not only us humans but also urban nature and the climate. While living in Helsinki for the past year, I've had countless fun and memorable moments by the sea and IN the sea, all within walking distance of the city center. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about Riga, my home city, where the beautiful river Daugava is inaccessible. You can see it, and smell it, but you can't really touch the water, let alone swim in it. I hope that one day Riga will draw inspiration from its Nordic neighbors—Copenhagen, Oslo, and Helsinki—and create inviting access to the Daugava and other water bodies, where people can enjoy happy moments. On the other hand, this initiative in Latvia could be a bit risky, as Latvia has been among the top EU countries for accidental drownings and submersions for several years. Given this alarming statistic, more effort should be put into improving swimming skills, both for kids (through swimming schools) and for adults. The graph below is a bit outdated, but nothing has changed much in the past years.
