Yesterday I spoke about the stories in sport that I love. And this is true, stories are fun and sexy. But you know what's also fun and sexy? Player registration and requirement rules!!!!! In the age of football globalisation, nations are rightly trying to ensure that their own talented players don't get swallowed by an influx of cheap talent from abroad. I adore these rules, I find it fascinating how clubs juggle the right amount of homegrown players in a squad and a match day squad and how that impacts a clubs strategy. Therefore when I'm speaking with clubs across Europe, one of my first questions is, do you have any rules around homegrown/domestic/U21 players in your squads? Why? Because, if you are in a nation with rules surrounding homegrown players, development of said players is paramount. Not only because you obviously want the best homegrown players in your region/country playing for you, but because you need to make additional decisions on those players. Who is ready to contribute each week, who goes on loan for more immediate development, who stays at home and is around the bench each week for experience but in reality isn't getting on apart from 3 mins at the end of 1 game, who is in reality no where near? At Playermaker you can use us to bench mark your first team players at each position, starter, replacement, cover. This can then be applied to younger players in lower age range matches, pre-season and when they do get runs in say cup games etc. Now we have quantifiable technical, physical and tactical metrics on our homegrown players to aid the decision making process of the coaches eye. If we know we need say 1 more player for registration and we need a wingback, no more than cover, might get 1 or 2 starts over the season but mostly used for late game minutes when they do get any. We could go and spend and try to fill that gap sure, but that's a hard role to fill. So let's look at our internal development plan first, see what we have at the U21/U18 level and try to fill from within first. So now, Playermaker is not just helping to solve your on field issues but also your off field admin that so few of us enjoy! #football #soccer #administration #sport

My belief remains that live broadcast of football should adopt the same model as Fortuna Dusseldorf (Credit Andy Marston). Leagues, Clubs and players and these days, long term institutional investors, should ask themselves, is it better for my content to be consumed by ~3m paytv customers in UK every month or 20m+ FTA viewers. Which model would build more longer term value? The NFL has long figured out the answer. We at LiveScore Group still have a vision to make this happen. 🏆 After their #WomensFACup win, here are five things Manchester United Women did with their channels and content that I loved: 1️⃣ UPDATING THEIR BIOS Super simple and effective, Man Utd changed their bios on the morning of the final to 'It's #WomensFACup final day! 🤩🏆' and later to 'Home of the 2024 #WomensFACup WINNERS! 🤩🏆' after full-time. This works so nicely for anyone new to the account who has been drawn in by the content on the day. 2️⃣ USING THE PLAYERS' VOICES TO BUILD EXCITEMENT United shared various bits of build-up content, including a piece that featured four players. In this video, the players talk about what it means to them to reach a cup final and to play at Wembley, building emotion and excitement for fans ahead of kick-off. 3️⃣ PUTTING A FOCUS ON THE FANS United did a great job on engaging fans they spoke to on the ground, those in attendance and those who couldn't be there on the day.
