When I think about (Gen)AI, 3 words come to my mind: impressive, inspiring, scary. This technology is a true game-changer which opens up endless opportunities for organizations and individuals. Until now, we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg in terms of realized potential. I am inspired by the executives who go all in fundamentally changing how their companies function, enabled through (Gen)AI. Following microchips that revolutionized computing and the internet that transformed distribution, GenAI is poised to disrupt creativity itself. This is why we at Handelsblatt and McKinsey Deutschland Österreich Schweiz are excited to announce "AI for Business" as the next theme for our annual “The Spark – The German Digital Award” – our tech start-up competition. We acknowledge AI's pivotal role in #TheSpark's history, but this isn't the end of the story. This new theme focuses on B2B (Gen)AI solutions with the potential to revolutionize business processes across all industries. We seek innovative solutions and business models that leverage cutting-edge GenAI technology to optimize core corporate functions like operations, marketing & sales, production, finance, controlling, and HR. ChatGPT's user base exploded, reaching 1 million within months and a staggering 1 billion by June 2023. The economic implications are significant: early GenAI adoption could boost Germany's GDP by up to €585 billion (13%) by 2040. Additionally, GenAI's automation and innovation potential is predicted to accelerate overall productivity by 18% by 2040 compared to a GenAI-less scenario, significantly enhancing Germany's competitive edge. Germany has the potential to take on a leading role in the field of artificial intelligence. Speed and a strong ecosystem of companies, academia and politics are key to this. Slush Takeaways: The AI Revolution in Corporate Innovation 🚀 I’ve had the pleasure of attending Slush this year, and meeting with customers, partners, and innovators was a real thrill. Find below some of the main takeaways from the event: 1️⃣ AI has evolved from a trend into a key strategic focus: Our discussions with innovators, corporate leaders, and CVC teams at Slush highlight the rapid pace of its adoption. Some companies are even appointing dedicated personnel to oversee AI implementation. 2️⃣ AI is rapidly becoming essential in market intelligence analysis: AI is not only reshaping how corporations scout and evaluate opportunities but also transforming decision-making and strategy across the board. 3️⃣ There are positive expectations for the recovery of transactions—such as investments, acquisitions, and partnerships—by 2025. Europe is witnessing a surge in the Corporate Venture Client model - where corporations support startups by becoming customers of their innovative solutions without taking equity. In contrast, this model has yet to gain significant traction in the U.S., where corporations continue to focus heavily on Corporate Venture Capital - investing in startups in exchange for equity. 4️⃣ Which are the standout AI tools?
