Materialise Magics has been the software backbone for the entire transition from industrial rapid prototyping, to additive manufacturing maturing to the serial production of end use parts. In the early days, throwing a dumb STL over the wall was good enough, but now as machines and materials mature, so must the software workflows and data formats shared. At CDFAM in NYC, CEO Brigitte de Vet-Veithen and software product manager Egwin B. discussed their strategy to help build robust data flows, through opening access to their software algorithms via SDK and formats such as 3MF to communicate more than just a bunch of triangles.
