On this National DNA Day, it's a great time to reflect upon the advances I've both witnessed and been fortunate to contribute to in over 15 years in molecular pathology. From Sanger sequencing single genes, to panels comprised of multiple technologies, to NGS for small panels then to large panels then to WES/WGS, to NGS of cfDNA for early inherited disease detection and for cancer, and spanning every aspect of precision medicine across both academic health and industry, it is incredible how far we've come in such a relatively short time.
