If we agree that the core challenge for all sustainability issues is that consumption systematically harms nature, then the core solution will be to make consumption a net positive act - measured in a holistic view, with numbers on biodiversity, CO2e and resource use. If it is achievable - economically and practically - a solution must be quite valuable. We’ve questioned the possibilities since 2018, started to construct such value chains in 2020, and now - we believe it is possible, not even that hard. On our desk we have the recipe and plan to make it happen. Implicitly we argue that Minus has a key for our societies core task. That should be quite valuable. Exhibiting at Stockholm Furniture Fair last week the regenerative approach got lots of attention. In the coming years it is backed by heavy EU regulations. Although we’re not super optimistic for the world reaching necessary goals on biodiversity and CO2e, Minus is optimistic on our own future. Our goal is a global implementation of the Minus methodology. To do that, we need partners. Who’s ready to join us? As a supporter, customer, investor or value chain partner? The last 12 months we were lucky to be part of the Impact StartUp Norge Accelerator, got the cvc GC Rieber GROWIT as a committed and engaged investor and board member, won the BoBedre awards, was nominated for Dezeen awards and at TV2s Gullspiren - the sustainability entrepreneur of the year. We launched the subscription service, and have a game plan towards below-zero on CO2e. We’ve done talks at New York Design week, Oslo Design Fair, University of Oregon, USN to mention some, and hosted our own talks at Stockholm Furniture Fair and Designers Saturday. 2024? Will be great.

Helsinki Design Week and Habitare join forces as creators of the future – aiming to offer one strong platform for design industry. Helsinki Design Week and Habitare are joining forces and starting an extensive and long-term collaboration. The aim is to strengthen the design industry and to promote a dialogue between designers and companies in order to accelerate the growth and internationalisation of the industry. Helsinki Design Week will be held from 6 to 15 September 2024 and Habitare will be held from 11 to 15 September 2024. The starting point for the collaboration beginning this year is to strengthen and support the design industry and its actors, by providing one commercially strong platform for encounters and interaction between professionals and companies in the industry.

One highlight that caught my attention was a space that stood out among the exhibitions due to its design aligned with its function. The Reading Room was an interactive installation, emphasizing the use of minimal resources. Crafted by the renowned Italian design studio Formafantasma, which was the guest of honor at the design week, this site-specific temporary installation sparked intrigue. It provided a platform for contemplation on the Design System, viewed as a catalyst for social and environmental change. Rather than focusing solely on products, the installation emphasized knowledge, ideas, and visions for the future. Inspiration vs inspo. Fuorisalone, once a design industry-centric event continues to evolve (with mixed feelings). Milano lines grow longer every year, and the bar to dazzle is no easy feat to propel. It’s made me think a lot about the fine line we dance with how we design experiences & communication - and what we aim to achieve. Inspiration - sticks, it moves your mind, lasts longer. Inspo - highly visually appealing, eye candy high sugar content - but can feel fleeting. There was more inspo than inspiration at Milano design week. One inspiring one that moved me was the ever-curious Adam Stech, at the Drop City space showcased 3,000 images of “Elements” photographed around the World - doors that dazzled, railings that protected - windows that welcomed. Curated together - human creativity across decades. It was a symposium of design - it stuck. Inspiration achieved.
