You don't need to be a linguist to see that employers have completely lost the plot when it comes to describing roles. Case in point, a job posting I just came across: "We are seeking a highly skilled Entry Level PMO Consultant with capital markets and investment banking experience to join our team and support our client in organizing and managing their projects effectively. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project management methodologies and tools, particularly Jira, to streamline processes and ensure project success." I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt even when I read "highly skilled entry level" because I thought maybe they were looking for a more seasoned person who is transitioning into PMO, but the second sentence really clinches the fact that the words "entry level" are no longer comprehended by this company. Listen up folks. "Entry Level" means NO experience. Not a proven track record, not 5 years experience, not a previous job with the same title. Entry level means they enter your company and learn how to do the job. If that's not what you're looking for, don't use the term. That also goes for things like 'remote', 'hybrid', 'work/life balance', as well. I can't tell you the hundreds of job postings I've read through that have been tagged and advertised as remote, only to find a line that says the role needs to be in the office three days a week or once a week or EVERY DAY. That's. Not. Remote. Don't just add terms you don't mean in an attempt to coerce some algorithm to put your posting in front of the maximum number of people; ESPECIALLY don't do that and then complain that you're not getting the candidates you want. There are hundreds of thousands of people looking for work; if you just accurately describe the expectations, responsibilities, and wage range for the role, you'll get a much more refined candidate pool of people who are looking for that type of job.

Hello Business owners. "Have you used an #offshore team to do a project and had to rework the whole thing" This is a common problem when people #outsource development, not hire globally. This is usually one of two potential problems: #1: No technical leadership I see this problem often when a company truly #outsources a project and has no in-house technical leadership. This bites non-technical founders a lot. They don't know how to build software, so they 100% trust the lowest-cost dev shop they can find. Companies always need technical leadership, even if it is a fractional CTO or consultant to lead the project. #2: Not integrating the teams The right way to do #offshore is to integrate the #VA with the rest of your teams, using staff augmentation. You can't treat them like a separate team and throw stuff over the wall at them and expect good results. We had great success doing #offshore before when my VA and the team led, and they managed hybrid teams of both local and #offshore Virtual Assistants. They were all one team working together. If things weren't being done correctly, you would know that you would have to rework that week, not at the end of some project. --- Most companies use #offshore to save money. The key is doing it the right way. You always need in-house technical leadership and want to use a staff augmentation model to integrate the offshore virtual assistant like they are your employees.
